I wholly support these changes and it has made its intended effect in retaining players. At least for me.
I have been with RS since classic, made a name for myself on funorb, even been made a fmod (though, the mistake was that I should of been a funorb fmod... not a RS one.).
Skilling was its own game but it's usually just done on the side to maintain attention while doing some other activity.
PVM however is big on RS3 but deathcosts were very prohibitive to gain entry into the realm. Now that deathcosts are toned down, I've actually resubbed and thoroughly enjoyed Zuk and Raksha solos. I've played roguelikes when I was younger and I have to say Runescape has always been the most punishing roguelike mmo out there because every other mmo I've encountered did not cause you to lose things. So it's good to lean towards systems that work.
The GE, imo, should already have a tax on it. Every other mmo with an exchange does this. It should be considered a "convenience fee". You can tie it into the lore that those exchange people need to be paid. Now of course the bankers need to be paid too but I think that would upset the community alot if you added bank fees at this stage of the game.
Anyhow, good job. The only bad thing about pvm now is that the community which does group bosses suffer something similar to how college grads are trying to enter into their first job. You have to have 10 years experience at Raids.... and blah blah blah. If there can only be some system to encourage more public instances for those who are just trying to get their routine raids/aod or whatever in. But I do see that some solutions have been pouring in such as adjusting Solak to be soloable.
