With all due respect, that mechanic was very annoying and during my last Lava Strykewyrm slayer task, I was dealing with the idea that I'd have to restock eternally on those Obsidian palmstones in order to not die due to the pretty active Wildy Volcano or the funny mobs (those weren't that bad, to be honest). I even gave some guidance to another fellow player yesterday, who was a bit confused about the threat mechanic and pvp on/off thing. I thought, "sometimes keeping it simple is the right way".
In my opinion, Jagex made a very good decision and I'm happy about it.
Feels like doin' a Conga line all over the south-west part of Lava Maze
Leveling +110 all skills and completing stuff here and there
I fully agree. It was never a substitute for being killed by other players, because we weren't skulled, so we only lost a fraction of the value. It was more annoying than scarry.

I think the lack of anyone coming out to defend the threat system says it all. Reminds me that no one came out to defend the old sawmill being eliminated for the fort. Great job repurposing the area. It also makes Geilinor feel more alive when the literal landscape changes like that.
My only suggestion would have been to work it into the lore. Like the fort and the resolution of the civil war caused the threats to die down.
