There was a gp dupe event. It's possible some items were duped, but it just seems unlikely. Their price would have fallen but instead it went up.

I took a long break also. Returned, sold my phats, bought tokens. The tokens didn't do so well.
It is possible to do well with tokens, but generally you want to buy at like 5k or at least under 500K for most tokens.
It's probably best to stick with what you know, not to get into tokens.
The trend with tokens over time seems to be towards zero; Jagex seems to aim to make them cheaper with each release. And the trend for rares is towards infinity. But Jagex might have changed that a bit recently.
Anyway, just a warning. It'd also be a huge pain to sell a phat at current prices. I don't trust prices; so, you'd be adding up little items that might well be overvalued. I mean they're way above max shards now. I cannot for the life of me manage to catch Covid. Perhaps it's because I didn't get vaxxed? The travails of those lacking immunity.

I assume phats are roughly that high, but it’d still be easy to lose when trading them.
There’s definitely manipulation. Like if you traded a yellow for a black Santa +cash, I’d fear the Santa would be in a bubble. Or if you accepted several red Santas as part of the deal, I’d fear they’d fall. Items are risky.
