Q: Are there any rules on this thread? The 'player doesn't want to be named' thing ought to be considered as one. Anonymous / unproven trades / potential manip. Either that or they're ashamed of scalping an item from a 'friend' and don't want to get exposed on here (?) Bob says:

I agree wholeheartedly. Another rule that should be implemented is screenshots only. A substantial amount of reported recent sells/buys don't even include one. How then can we verify if and/or when the transaction happened? I suppose we could just message the other party about the trade but this form of information is more prone to suffer from human error and manipulation. There's absolutely no reason not to add one.

Simple answer is no one wants to be named then you have the option to belive the trade took place or the trade didn't take place.

For Me with no proof as in Screen shots or names then the trades are not worth reporting. Thats My opinion and not the opinion of Jagex or fellow F-Mods. Just so were on the same page.

Also Research is the key to all trades. You can't do enough research. ;) Comprehensive Account Security

Beware Price Manipulation

- Investigate accounts that people claim to trade with, be cautious if the RuneScape account seems to be inactive for the last few months or appears to be an alt.

- Check a person's post history to see if they only list their sales and not buys or vice versa. Their post history will show their intentions very clearly. If they only list sales, they are trying to increase prices. If they only list buys, they are trying to decrease prices.

- Sometimes, people inflate their sales by overpricing an item involved in the trade.

- Sometimes, people post ranges for their benefit and don't reflect the recent trades.

- Some users will change their forums examination message to claim they are accurate price checkers, this falls in a grey area, and Forum Moderators are unable to take action, be aware that some of these are false. They may even mention this in their post to try and deceive people.

- If a post looks suspicious, for example, failing to mention second parties, screenshots, or prices that seem wildly inaccurate compared to recent trades within the thread, be very cautious.

- People who manipulate and use false ranges usually appear off in-game and are never online to answer any queries about their price range list.

- Research the ranges advertised to see if they include actual recent trades within the thread.

- Look for reports verified by both parties involved with the transactions.


It's a team effort to keep the community safe since the Forum Moderators or Jagex Moderators can't do anything about it.
