@Megascatman "Party hats are rare and you can visually see what they were last sold at."
On the contrary, we cannot see what Partyhats, or any rare items were last sold at - all we get to see is a chart that factors in total, all-time sales, and creates an average number. It is not an accurate metric to show the current, market prices for items that are sold infrequently, which is why we have price checkers. A good example of this fact is an item like the Half Full Jug of Wine, which is more rare than the Christmas cracker, with an average sale of only one every month. Now, for this item, the average (which was manually entered by Jagex mods when the old max cash limit was removed) shows an immovable 16.6B. Most recently, however, the half wine's have sold for somewhere between 27.5- 32 B. The number on the Grand Exchange will remain 16.6 B for many years likely, just due to them being sold so infrequently, and the system not being able to update the price on such a low volume.
If we actually got to see the real data, and what each last sale for each rare item was, we wouldn't need to rely on price checking forums/clans/websites.
But Jagex will never do that, even though it would completely eliminate price checking scams, and is an easy, accurate, solution.
I'm known as Rich King Midas, and when you look at me, you'll see a king who knows a thing about his treasury. I never cared for women. I've never cared for wine. But when I count a large amount of money - ha ha - it's divine!
