Friendly reminder to check out this thread to avoid falling victim to manipulation:


[Beware] Price Manipulation

- Investigate accounts which people claim to trade with, be cautious if the account seems to be inactive for the last few months or appears to be an alt.

- Check a persons post history to see if they only list their sales and not buys or vice versa, this will show their intentions very clearly. (if they only list sales, they are trying to inflate, if they only list buys, they are trying to get the prices to go down.

- Sometimes people inflate their sales by overpricing an item involved in the trade.

- Sometimes people post ranges for their own benefit and don't reflect the recent trades.

- Some users will change their examine to claim they are accurate PC'ers, because this falls in a grey area and Fmods are unable to take action, be aware that some of these are false, they may even mention this in their post to try and deceive people.

- If a post looks suspicious, for example failing to mention second parties, screenshots, prices that seem very inaccurate compared to recent trades within the thread, then be very cautious.

- People that manipulate and use false ranges usually appear off in game and are never online to answer any queries about their ranges.

- Research the ranges advertised, to see if they include actual recent trades within the thread.

- Look for reports verified by both parties involved with the transactions.


It's a team effort to keep the community safe, since the Fmods/Jmods can't do anything about it

When was that 223B sell reported? Since the highest reported was 200B ?

On the very high-end estimate of GuWunna's trade "Blue Partyhat for White Partyhat + Red Partyhat" can be estimated to be as much as that. Keep in mind this is meant to be a guide, and users should try to use research and discretion when participating in this high-risk market.

The general word of advice is to always question everything you see posted and specifically ask: Why is someone specifically reporting this trade? Is it just a buy? Is it just a sell? Do they put their own assumptions on the price of the item? Do they only report high sales? Do they only report low buys? Does it have a screenshot? Are the prices significantly higher than the last reported? My manipulation warning underneath my weekly postings is meant to help you.

Keep in mind my ranges are assisted with many helpful contributors given I'm not as active as I once was. To keep prices as up-to-date as possible I'd recommend reporting your trades as often as possible.
