Which items are illegal to hoard?

Is it illegal to hoard tokens?

Is it illegal to hoard rares?

Is it illegal to hoard hero items

Is it illegal to hoard all?

Alot of people call hoarding items manip especially items with limited supply so why do people call hoarding manip?
I need my blue charms back.

well i dont think any of that is illegal since there is no rule against hoarding.

i also dont get why ppl think its manip to hoard.

i do get it if ppl say its manip if people abuse hoarding to set their own price to resell, but thats similar to merching but the difference is that 1 player holds the whole stock.

up till now there hasnt been 1 player holding all items of 1 unique kind.

there has been groups that hold certain items but no individual player has been able to pull in all the stocks.

simply put: hoarding isnt bad, but the players abusing it to drive prices up are bad.
trusting certain pc lists or prices of items or websites that dont belong to jagex will get you into trouble notice: external websites and trades are your responsibility, dont get fooled!.

Does anyone hoard items without the intention of driving up prices? There is literally no logic to hoarding unless this is what you're trying to do. I can't think of a single honorable reason to do so...

i just feel sorry for anyone who pays big for tokens.best to unlock during promos, then if you got magpie syndrome buy some as an investment, which may or may not work

not everyone is driven by money in this game. some ppl hoard for the fun of owning large amounts of 1 item.

Ive alot of 1 item too, but i never cared for it to go up or down. i just wanted to have alot of 1 item for the fun.

ofcourse most ppl care for the cash hoarding makes but there are people who enjoy having stacks of items which is hoarding too.

like i said, its not the action that makes it bad, its the intention for doing it that makes it bad.

I don't think it's illegal to hoard? It's basically just an investment.

If someone buys 100 santas because they *think* these items might rise in the future are not doing anything wrong.

What is illegal, is to create clans, or friends and then buy multiple items of X and drive the price up this way.

Not sure if there has ever been anyone who has said that its against the rules. This is definitely interesting take, if it was against the rules then the whole collector community wouldnt exist.

Sure, the is different between buying stuff for your own financial benefit affecting the market by getting rid of as many of said item as possible and buying them to collect the said item but the principle is just the same.

I think the only time its against the rules is when you organize this action with a group of people to buy specific item out, thats price manipulation.

Hoarding is not illegal and never will be. If you have items you like to keep then keep them. ;)

I have quite a few items I've kept from 2005 to the present and have no plans now or in the future to sell or trade them for anything else. Now is that illegal..... Hell no.

If you have some items others want then trade them if the deal is right for you. If it's not right then don't trade. After all it's all about making GP and getting a good deal. If you over charge then no one will buy but if you sell at a good price then you will sell. Same for buying. You will only pay what you feel is a good price for an item. If it's over prices you will buy else where. It's called being smart with your GP.

The only time it may become an issue is when a Group of people or a Clan start to make threads telling everyone an item or 2 is doing well and try and convince you to buy into it or them. They are only after pumping and dumping their pyramid scheme. Do not buy into these as you may lose bank. Threads within the Forums especially in here can and will be locked for Manipulating.

Becareful what you buy or sell. Get the best deal for you.

I don't think it is "illegal" - if what you mean by "illegal" is something forbidden by rules of the game.

I think a more interesting question to be asked is whether hoarding is 'ethical' or not. For example, there are several players in the game with well over 1 trillion+ in wealth. A player with that much capital could, potentially, completely buy out a single item that has a fixed or low supply. As a natural consequence, this could prevent many other players from getting the item too.

Whether a situation like this is ethical is probably up for debate - personally I don't think it is unethical. If a player has enough money, they can do whatever they want with it - whether they just want to hoard an item they like and never sell it, or they want to buy it out for 'merching' purposes is up to them.
