They should just bring BSH and holly wreath back too lmfao not even classic rares. It's only fair if they're gonna devalue TH tokens that they devalue other items too
I think it has already caused a bull run in the rare's market. As Treasure Hunter tokens/items have faced reintroduction, it is clear that these are no longer safe investments. There are some Treasure Hunter items which have seen years without reintroduction, making some players think that they may never return and effectively making them pseudo rares/collectibles. Jagex has vaguely said in the past they are interested in making cosmetics/tokens obtainable in some fashion in the future. The reintroduction of gem tokens, which has seen years without reintroduction should finally put the nail in the coffin.
I think the writing is very clear on the wall what Jagex has in store for Treasure Hunter tokens. Look at felix tokens which have now been available over the oddment store for nearly two years, effectively crippling consumer demand for these overrides since someone can very easily purchase the override through the store. I will say, however, I prefer tokens or cosmetic overrides to be reintroduced as unlocks rather than reintroducing the original token. This preserves demand for the original token as a collectible, while also giving players an access to the override. In my opinion, Jagex should be exploring this route more and regularly updating the oddment store with additions/seasonal removals for old cosmetic tokens/unlocks. There's no reason to continue oversaturating a heavily saturated market, in my opinion.
With the token crash, it is inevitable people would reinvest and reallocate into safer areas. I see original rares as one logical option. Golden partyhats haven't seen a significant rise, and are consolidating. I think folks are a bit wearier with new rares, but long-term I am incredibly bullish on all holiday items and rares.
Time will tell, and also changes in Jagex's leadership can also affect how they respond to these markets (directly and indirectly through updates and promotions).
