Historically prices are more volatile in the weeks leading up to and immediately after a major content release that's expected to affect the meta and economy.

Elder God Wars is right around the corner and expected to drop new BiS items. We've seen similar volatility with rares with GWD2, Mattocks, Codexes, and many other items over the years, so there's a lot of history to pull from.
