Price compilation based on an interpretation of the last reported trades:

Yellow:30b
Purple:35b
Phat set:258b
The high prices in general and the rising prices specifically make it very unatractive to try flip a hat. They are one of the causes for the drying up of liquidity.
The way most people flip hats is buy first and then sell it. Very few people flip the other way, they have a hat that they like and sell it to try buy it back cheaper.
Like say you have 20b cash in bank and some hats, then when blue is 20b you could risk trying to flip it because if you sell to early before the peak then in worst case you would lose 2-4b when trying to buy it back.
But when blue is 67 and the way prices are rising now that becomes a huge risk, you could easily lose 10b+ if you time it wrong and sell before the final peak is there.
Then when prices start to stabelize you often see an influx of rares, people who didnt dare to sell before now dare to sell and the prices drop down considerably after the peak, could be 20% easily. Then they bounce back again and end up somewhere in the middle where they stabelize and can sit for well over 1 year before a new rise occurs which drys up the supply again. Making potentially 20% on a 67b blue is quiet an attractive prospect, its a lot of money for 1 single trade when compared to the money you can make in ge flipping bonds or whatever.
Then you can also trade normally, buy first and then sell instead of sell and rebuy.
This is how most merchants trade i guess but by not holding permanently they often miss out as well. They can easily miss out on the big jumps and go from trading a blue 3 years ago to now trading a yellow or purple. Thats a 35b loss in real value despite all the nominal profits.
So ya i dunno,i guess i just keep my hats and resist the temptation that is definitely there.
Yes its off topic but the thread is kinda boring. The compilations are gone and there is not many hat trades.
