gold phat is the only one-time event item currently in the game, every other item can easily be rereleased any time they want to.

and even the gold phat can be rereleased in the future if something drastically happens.

that doesnt mean items can go years without being rereleased though.

and that's why jagex is how they are on being "transparent" on items as the other 100th time recreated thread topic is about.

because they let the people who know how to work the market with items work the market without jagex holding their hands.

My fav is the people that got smoked marching those zombie walks. I swear those people lost bills on them when they rereleased them. I think they were over 5b and they dropped to 500 - 700 mill?

That was the point when I dumped my entire token collection after I watched those people get completely cleaned!

Best,

Jagex did refer to Gift Wrap Scythes and Frosted Wreaths as "new tradable rares". The news post used this language, however, upon checking it seems it has been edited at some point. I do see that the Twitter post still refers to these as "festive tradable rares". https://twitter.com/runescape/status/1474409751912067072

Frosted wreaths were 4m, and Gift wrap scythes 13m prior to the reintroduction. I honestly didn't see reason for rerelase, considering Jagex referred to them as "tradable rares" and see that as very misleading. I think that more thought needs to be put into how items are described to be more transparent and intentional. Someone could call this a "bait and switch", using terms like "new rares" and then rereleasing the items. It may drive up monetization in the short-term, but it is a dangerous practice that can cost Jagex business in the long-term. I think the reintroductions are overdone too, and there's hundreds of items/tokens that need a form of "escape". Is that an effective use of developer time, and player bank space when some items are so oversaturated that they have GP values around 10k-100k and continuously return? Recycling the same content is dull, and turns these items/cosmetics into "junk".

I've personally lost upwards to 100b in the past 2-3 years due to items being reintroduced. I used to be able to pick items and investments well, but it seems like there's an initiative by developers to reintroduce certain items. When merchants accumulate a large quantity, it seems like a rerelease is more likely to happen. I would guess that the biggest loss from any individual rerelease was around 20b.

Regardless of the ideological debate of whether certain items should return or not, I think it is fairly easy for folks to agree that players would not be adversely impacted or would be "properly warned" of the risk of an item if Jagex were more transparent about

They might have been trying to redistribute wealth with possibly one of the worst ways that does more damage than good. Mercher buys an item he perceives it to be rare/limited. Average players that acquire the item sell it to the mercher his GP goes to the player. Then Jagex rereleases it destroying the value of the item, leaving the mercher with a big quantity of items worth little to of no value and players with his GP.

EDIT: one more thing I have noticed the last 2 years is that someone always knows about the rerelease beforehand. so far I have noticed about 4 tokens being massively dumped 1-2 day before rerelease, so information definitely gets leaked. I am not talking about a small drop but like 20-40% like panic selling trying to cash in before. But it's always a day or two before never a week or a month, so whoever is leaking it out they probably get the news a day or two before the actual announcement.

Oh these came back? A few hunderd mill i guess i dont keep track anymore.

I was tempted to sell them recently after they went back up from 5m to 10m+ again. I guess that window is now closed.

Green Santa didnt come back (yet),so that is a bonus.

That scythe and wraith would come back was kinda predictable but it was worth a small gamble.

jagex gets away with way too much.

in their economy video that came out months ago they said they are going to "do something" about partyhat prices.

Since then, everything has been crashing and they havent clarified what they meant. We need to hold them accountable for their price manipulation.

if they are going to rerelease discontinued items they need to tell people. game has become unplayable boring since jagex has to control literally everything like psychopaths.

all their new content is based around "tradeable rares" that are basically worthless until we know what they are doing with the OG

@Jagex stop playing games with your loyal players. we are reason game still exists and you intentionally keep us in dark about future of game.
