The purpose of this thread is to shine a light on an ongoing issue of bots and jagexs true intentions with this upcoming in-game item.
I have many issues with this upcoming golden phat gimmick but I'll leave that for the rant section.
I am here to discuss an alternative to ensure bots do not benefit from this update.
I purpose an idea to change the way Jagex releases the golden phat. Currently, as we all know players with 8 shards will be able to create a golden phat, cool. However, it doesn't take a genius to realize that people will take advantage of this update as a means to rwt, by creating bots and writing scripts to ensure each account is eligible and able to create a golden phat to later sell and rwt.
In 2021 this is extremely easy to do, You can create a script to create new runescape accounts and you can run scripts to do exactly what is needed to create the golden phat. I believe Jagex is intelligent enough to know this. So why would Jagex not take extra precautions to prevent this from happening? Well, I believe this is a part of Jagex's plan. Think about it. Jagex knows this update will encourage "users/farms" to create new accounts and obtain memberships in order to benefit from this update. This allows Jagex to boost membership sales significantly along with account creation, both of which is purely an unethical business move.
My suggestion is to create a max supply of golden Phats and make it so it is randomly received during skilling or via a raffle system. If you're going to introduce a new rare you might as well do it properly.
I purpose a Max supply of golden phats based on the current circulation of phats ( Phats current held by active users based on 2021) x (XXX amount). This will ensure Jagex does not benefit from ruining classic discontinued items by creating a new motive for people to farm for the sake increase membership sales and account creation.
