I like the sounds of this. Between this and the Portable Workbench Jagex finally seems to be making strides towards making Construction less of a slog to train.
I welcome any changes or new additions for construction. Looking forward to this, since I also enjoyed safecracking (minus the lack of any reward for that). I hope the rewards give us something fun or cool, maybe an addition to ports/Miscellania.
That said, this is a bandaid solution. The primary content of construction is the POH, and that needs some major attention.
Judging from the comparison to safecracking it sounds very likely there will be interesting rewards in the new construction update. However, like the safecracking rewards such as the unbreakable lockpick is aimed strictly for thieving, I can only see the new reward for the new construction updates being relevant to construction only, hence it probably won't be bank chests or such, but faster servant service and a more powerful saw may be feasible.

I'm beginning to suspect that the Portable Workbench and now this coming out in the span of just a couple of months isn't a coincidence. Rather, I wonder if this is a sign that they're gearing up for something bigger to happen with Construction sometime next year.
It's a little bit of a stretch but perhaps it's even tied into a hypothetical Woodcutting/Fletching rework? We know that there was a healthy demand for one courtesy of last year's year-end survey, so the timing wouldn't be unreasonable.

They said it in the livestream they are looking at adding new ways to train different skills. The next skill they are looking at is Agility.
It doesn't automatically mean there won't be a larger scale construction rework next year or sometime later, but I think the focus is more on more varieties to train a variety of skills instead of just reworking a single skill.

Fair enough. I must have missed that part of the stream.
Well, either way, it's nice to see some long neglected skills finally getting some love.
To be completely honest (and I think I mentioned this a few years ago as well) this is not what I want at all.
The request to update construction dates back to 2010, if not earlier (I remember making a thread about the then newly released citadels having better upgrades than Player Owned Houses).
The problem was not that the training is bland, but that there is literally nothing worthwhile to train for: everything was already outdated in 2010. Since then we only had the aquarium added (which was a nice addition) but that is basically it.
Who actively uses their Player Owned Houses these days (outside of the rare occasion when armour needs repairing)? Even as a means of teleportation Player Owned Houses have become useless. The achievements one can display have not been updated either. People can duel other players everywhere these days, making the dungeon useless as well.
Some new training method is not going to fix this, nor would I actually know where to start anymore. As someone with 120 construction, I more see it as a relic of the past. Even the urge I once had for it to be updated has subsided.
