To mark RuneScape's 20th year since the 2001 Christmas Event, there'll be a seventh Party Hat added to the game.
What do you guys think?

I think it's a great idea! I just hope there is a level-cap to counter alt account farmers.
That said, if there isn't, then at least we'll see a lot more gold leave the game via bonds.

The Golden Party Hat

The Golden Party Hat will be available to members only and the event will commence on November 22nd . Only one Golden Party Hat can be made per account, and it will be a tradable rare item. The event will end January 3rd but you'll have a couple of weeks to use your shards (of which you need 8).

How do I get Golden Party Hat Shards? (8/11)

(1/11) Talk to the Wise Old Man who is waiting for you outside the Grand Exchange in Varrock. Easy peasy!

(2/11) Complete the 'Once Upon a Time in Gielinor' Anniversary quest - you can read more about that here!

(3/11) Every time you earn a Mark of War, there is a chance to earn a shard.

(4/11) Shards are also a possible drop from completing Clue Scrolls.

(5/11) One shard can be had when training Combat skills (Attack, Strength, Defence, Ranged, Prayer, Magic, Constitution, Summoning).

(6/11) One shard can be had when training Gathering skills (Mining, Fishing, Woodcutting, Farming, Hunter, Divination, Archaeology).

(7/11) One shard can be had when training Artisan skills (Herblore, Crafting, Fletching, Smithing, Cooking, Firemaking, Runecrafting, Construction).

(8/11) One shard can be had when training Support skills (Agility, Thieving, Slayer, Dungeoneering).

(9/11) Another shard can be obtained at Level 15 of the free track in the Christmas Yak Track event.

(10/11) One shard can be purchased with 30 million in-game gold.

(11/11) One shard is given with Premier Club 2022 membership purchase.

Begin the event by talking to the Wise Old Man at the Grand Exchange

Start: November 22nd
End: January 3rd

i have a question. it says we can earn one shard from each different classifications of skills. what if a player is maxed in xp, for example, all the gathering skills? Can we earn only 1 shard in each classification of skills?

Wondering the same thing. As I'm maxed like you are. And most of my virtual are 120 as well. 4 of the shards are obtained by leveling up. And if those are unobtainable to use we are going to be unable to get enough shards to make the partyhat.

Following and agree - If 200m xp in all skills, does that mean we have to rely on luck to earn/makeup in the clue scroll or Marks of war categories?

We already do not get any xp from lamps from seren spirits etc.

I think it was only a matter of time and I'm surprised jagex let the existing phat situation get this out of control. They smite so many things that jump in price but then don't touch these its a little odd. They go for huge sums on the black market, I'm sure. The OG phats could easily be introduced once again. And i think they should. They become an annoying reminder of how some players didn't have to work for anything. Log out and not support the game or play it just to come back and have more than almost all of us? Jagex shouldn't be promoting or glamorizing it, they should nerf numbers like that in game. They wonder why rwt is so heavily chosen over hard work. This is why. Hard work will never let a player with an average time to play games and normal responsibilities get one of these without rwt. They might not outright buy an entire phat but they don't usually earn it from scratch. At some point in time, i decided i do not want to chase a partyhat. It's just dumb to me. This type of update might be the only way to get a player who feels that way (like me) interested in one. So i suppose i support it.. But re-release the others.

I'm pretty certain the chances of obtaining the shards will be based on the XP drops, and it won't be based on whether that XP gets added to your current XP. There should be nothing to worry about if you're already 200m XP. After all, if you have 200m Fishing XP, you can still catch fish, right?

I'm quite happy with the way it's being implemented. It gives everyone a wide range of chances to obtain shards, whilst also relying on players playing the game (i.e. players with hundreds of accounts can't abuse the mechanics). The odds of finding shards may be an annoying factor however. If they're as rare as skill pets, then we could see many unhappy players. On the other hand, if they're as common as geodes from Mining, for example, then maybe that will be too common. Perhaps a healthy rarity will be on par with Tetracompass Piece drop rates.

Yes but if someones 200m they dont get xp drops so this point is once again null.

As im 200m fish thats one skill i cant use for this.

Plus as im maxed in all but arch, this also applies to me.

Hopefully we get some sort of jmod answer soon.
