There is a number of better solutions; For example:
-Simply remove Sunshine damage boost while the special is active; effectively lowering large RNG based crits. It is unfair as for example; Berserk you sacrifice a large amount of damage increase; while sunshine you dont have to do much but run in and out of the circle. This would be the best option.
I think its better to Adjust boss mechanics, Power up Range and Melee; before nerfing mage and affecting a large number of the playerbase.
