Having a skin for a pet isn't the problem, Dilbert.

The problem is that the pet itself could be earned at twice the odds when purchasing the boon, and the point of explaining what the reward was to others in this thread was to help them understand that yes - it was the literal pet itself they could earn with better odds and not "just a skin" for said pet.

If a player earns a pet in Fresh Start Worlds, that pet rolls over into the main game with them because they've earned it.

If that pet is displayed after the event's conclusion, a player who is sitting at nearly 200m xp without the pet probably should -rightfully- feel like they were cheated because they didn't happen to play during a Fresh Start period, and on the other hand, a Fresh Start account might have their achievement of earning the pet at twice the odds belittled by the community when they roll over.

Getting rid of the Skilling Pets boon prevents both of those issues from rising up. Now - if you earn a pet in Fresh Start Worlds, you do so at the same odds someone would earn a pet in the main game and there isn't any room for hurt feelings - especially now that the halo skin is (probably? this is one of those grey area rewards) going to be offered in RS3 through other means.

Please read the updated news on FSW again please:

"We have removed the Boon of Skill Pets, which provided a +100% chance for Skill Pet drops."

Dilbert.

LoveYouMore said 'I really don't understand why the pet boon is gone when these are unique pets for only 4 months.'

In response, I corrected him with the information that they are N O T in fact, simply just the skin, but are in fact the actual skilling pet (and the skin) that -w o u l d- have been awarded to players who bought the boon at twice the rate that the pet would be awarded outside of Fresh Start Worlds.

I've already -read- the FAQ and the announcement of the feedback changes.

Please read the thread next time! Thanks.

The pet from FSW will still be unique and can't be transferred to the main character, but this is no different from getting a pet with an IM alt. That's the point and I believe this is also OP's concern, not that the boon alone makes it a problem, but when an alt (regardless it is IM, FSW or somewhere else) gets a pet my main need it really hurts.

In my case, my IM alt got a RC pet which was the last skilling pet my main need for the Master of All title. It really sucks. So I am for being able to send some account bound item to other characters in the same account. I know it is not happening now, but in the future when Jagex Launcher is fully released

Again, you’re still missing the point.

The Fresh Start Account will become a regular RS3 account either at the end of the event or earlier at the player’s request.

If -that- account were to have purchased the skilling pet boon as it was originally proposed, and earned a pet (which it would have twice the odds of when training), the pet would be on the Fresh Start account after the event’s conclusion.

As of now, this is still the case, but now there is no room for the owner of the new account getting belittled for having earned the pet with twice the odds by disgruntled players in the main game, or players feeling cheated because they didn’t have access to double the odds of said pet and are nearing 200m xp in the skill they have gone dry in. Everyone has the same odds of getting the pet, so the only thing left to determine when is luck. The feedback reinforces fairness here - and it’s a change for the better.

I wasn’t talking about a main account already in game. Fresh Start accounts getting boosted pet drop rates and then becoming main accounts was where people thought there was an issue, and Jagex made the right decision to nix the boosted odds.

The value of trying to get a skilling pet in FSWs for the pet’s halo remains intact, as does earn the halo token for a main if you wish.

This is where you keep misunderstanding the actual concern. The account you start in FSW and will become permanent RS3 account isn't your main. The pet you obtain in FSW belongs to your alt, just like an IM alt, they will never get transferred to your main.

Again, in my case, I have been trying to get all skilling pets in all the 21+ years I played. I am still an RC pet short, but I got it unexpectedly in my IM alt. Bummer! This is going to be the same situation with FSW alts. Almost everything is fine because they are transferable, except the pets.

Look, I know you’re like. A super rich player with multiple years of experience or whatever- but, I’m not too concerned with yours or anyone else’s long grind for Rue.

The concern that people that -actually- weren’t happy with Fresh Start Worlds had was fairness.

If I were to use you as an example, you should have had every right to be upset that someone playing Fresh Start with a brand new account for the first time or at least for a good while (let alone one of you alt-farmer types that this game mode was supposedly not made for according to Jagex) would be able to snipe Rue after getting the doubled chance from the skilling boon.

Are you so insistent on talking about alts because that’s who is -really- Jagex’s target audience? I promise you - alts or otherwise - players don’t want to see other players get special treatment in any form or fashion.

What concern about fairness? First, Jagex has already made a lot of changes to make FSW fair to everybody. Second, and far more important to this thread is users are talking about the changes made their new players/alt experience less beneficial.

Jagex's main targets are new and lapsed players. However, this thread is all about existing player experience with their alts.
