With the next key Necromancy update coming in a little more than 2 weeks, it is about time to refresh our memories from what we left off from beating Raisal in Alpha and Omega.

https://runescape.wiki/w/Transcript:Alpha_vs_Omega

There are several major reveals from the quest:

- Like the World Guardian and the Balance Elemental, Rasial was also Guthix's guardian.
- The universe is about to end when the Shadow comes, and Rasial was the one to stop it.
- Now, since we have bested Rasial, it is our time to stop the Shadow.
- "Perhaps we shall meet again in a
future age
, should the World Guardian not fail to preserve this universe."

Several interesting things to discuss. It is interesting Rasial, who is from the First Age thousands years ago, knew of the universe ending threat from the Shadow in the Age of Chaos, after the 6th Age and he talked about a future age too. Most logically he learned these from Guthix as he was apparently the god's first guardian, but how did Guthix know of these things thousands of years later, and even after his own death?

The other thing is after seeing Raisal and the Balance Elemental failed to prevent the universe ending threats from eventually happening, Guthix prepared us, the current World Guardian by imbuing anima and shadow anima into us so we can counter gods and shadow creatures at the same time. It is beating our enemies with their own weapons. Now that we learned Necromancy and further advanced it through the "Vos-da! Xau-ma! Tak-ma!" ritual, perhaps we are about to beat Vos-Xau-Tak with their own weapons and rituals soon.

More to come later especially with the Future Age, World Guardian's responsibilities which are so special even Rasial had committed to return to life to save the universe after his death 1000's of years ago, and the big one... who was Guthix actually and what were his liars...

Feel free to share with us your opinions.

At the end of the quest Death states he was the first to die and that Rasial was the first to be murdered, nothing else is said on this but it's an interesting point mentioned before in lore

Guthix makes reference to the site of the first murder, this was Guthix's choice location to use the Sword of Edicts so that means that Rasial was murdered within the Wilderness Crater.

We know that the edicts are conveniently directly above the Infernal Source and it acts as a conduit. Though I am not sure whether the creation of the Infernal Source on Gielinor was ever properly explained, though anima beasts and the use of it has been referenced.

Perhaps Rasial created the Infernal Source and was murdered once he had fulfilled his use in using his magic to do so.

I am not sure about the Infernal Source being deep in the Wildy undeath and near the Edicts as the Infernal Source digsite is just across to the west of Fort Forinthry.

The Infernal Source is the gateway Zaros created to connected to Infernus from the dead body of the Hydra Lord Loarnab from Twilight of the Gods. The Infernal Digsite quest also linked the Infernal Source to a ritual circle undeath where Fort Forinthry is now:

"Their biggest and most important undertaking was the dismantling of the Hydra Gate (that is, Loarnab's corpse), which they would then carefully smuggle beneath the Star Lodge piece by piece, before teleporting the pieces through a ritual circle to an area deep beneath Forinthry that would come to be known as the Infernal Source. Once the pieces reached their final destination, the Order would reconstruct the Hydra Gate so that it may be useable once more."

The mysterious powers said to be the reason why we wanted to build Fort Forinthry can be the ritual circle connected to the Infernal Source. While Rasial might be connected to it in the First Age, I don't think it is near the Edicts.

Rasia was Guthix's guardian and he owned a runed sword similar to the Edicts but different engravings, but Infernal Source doesn't seem likely to be so far away from Fort Forinthry and Senntisten.

We should also keep in mind Rasial was murdered in the First Age, but Guthix didn't throw the Sword of Edicts to the Wildy Crater before the 3rd Age. So even though quite obvious Raisal and perhaps his murder might be related to the Sword of Edicts, there was really no indication Rasial had anything to do with the Wildy crater or the Infernal Source had anything to do with them.

The Sword of Edicts is very interesting though, as Raisial also own sword resembling Guthix's Edicts and it murdered the World Guardian. The observable difference between Guthix's sword and Rasial's are the engravings. "Behave" was engraved into the Sword of Edicts while "Agress" was marked on Rasial's. Not sure if Rasial got his sword from Guthix or the Shadow though.

BTW, it seems like the "shadow" is the "dark god", or at least was referred as such in Jagex's 2010 official trailer introducing the Signature Hereos, Necromancy and an undead dragon looking like the RS3 Vorkath in 2023.

We don't know if Jagex still call the shadow or Xau-Tak a god, but originally they were planned as a "dark god".
