Analyse the state of the RuneScape economy and offset any reduction of GP leaving the game that results from reducing death costs.

Above is one of the stated 'design aims' for the upcoming death cost rework. The main target of the death update is new players (new to advanced combat) and players with extreme death costs.

My concern, I am the one in the middle. I fight what I want and I don't consider my death costs to be too high. When they are, I use the appropriate Ring of Death. The other rings aren't gonna prevent me from dying, so it is the realistic choice.

As a bystander, I will also be affected by changes to the economy as stated above. Do I need or want this? Less gold? I personally want more gold, I need more gold always.

Of course the highest death cost players were the ones contributing most to this loss of gold. They also gain more gold and likely enjoy the combat more than others. (speculating)

Isn't it a great imbalance to then shift that burden of death costs to the players who are not involved, and do not want this adjustment?

Their dev blog from July that included the quote up top promises more dev blogs and a POLL, which should be expected in the near future.

I'm saying this is more important than one might think at first, so we should carefully consider what they are about to present to us.

Honestly people need to stop and evaluate whether or not they need top of the line gear for every single little thing that they do. So it saves you a minute or two per kill, is it worth losing that extra 50mil per death? Think about this seriously people. Leader of The Enemy ||

Death costs have been pushed back, but they are already working to adjust the economy. With herbs replaced by seeds and a new points system for planting herbs.

It's becoming the next mining and smithing rework, because at this moment it seems like they are only doing it because they said they would.

What is going to be gained in the end? Probably a lot of unhappy players and the ones originally complaining about death costs won't care either way.

The solution is to reduce switchscape AND change the economy AND reduce GP for bossers AND a GE Tax AND increase max cash AND give me a break!

Let's focus more on that switchscape thing for a moment and see what difference it has already made. How important is it today, and what else could further be done? Do the players involved even need any further protection?

YIKES! How many real updates have been lost due to this effort now? The herb adjustment could have focused on the main offenders and added like 2 new herb patches next to existing ones for convenience and improved yield.

They can legit set new death costs for overpriced items. Make the max cash adjustment to reduce scamming.

Then give it some time to see where everything settles.

Who are the unhappy people? I see most players, even the ones who don't pvm jump up for joy.

They are balancing death cost reduction with GE tax. As they are taxing every item in the GE and no using any fund to bail out specific elitist items, the net loss of gp in the economy will be much bigger than what will be created by death tax.

The unhappy people exist in the future. My goal is to reduce their number, me included. :D

Jagex ran metrics with a lot of Death Free Weeks already. They found lots and lots of happy players including ones who never fought bosses engaging there.

Sure, everyone likes free deaths. In this version of reduced death costs everyone will pay for the few who said they are too high. Instead of just following the crowd people should keep an eye on this. To be continued, etc.

We have this death cost reduction project revealed for months already. Everybody has been keeping an eye and sharing their very positive voices. Now even new players in FSW are experience and sharing their very positive voices. I don't know who else haven't heard about death cost reduction... and if there are yet more new players to come in the next few months, even more great news for RS3.

They are positive about what? Free or reduced deaths? If it was that simple the update would have dropped 2 days after the dev was assigned. I think they actually just left, so no idea where this is even headed atm.

That doesn't stop them from using it as an excuse to change the economy. They WANT people to buy gold and they want the game to be balanced in a way that lots of people NEED to buy gold.

Spreading the wealth to skilling is a bit of a requirement, because the people with high death costs also have all the money and a greater ability to gain it quickly.

They told us about death cost reduction in early summer. It is hardly anything new. It is not assigned to just one person, it is a team project covering many bases deep into next year.

They want people to buy gold? No. They want people to buy bonds, yes of course and that's the purpose of "An Important Message From Mod MMG" to RS3 and OSRS. However, reducing death cost only means players are saving more gp, it won't make them more willing to buy bonds to exchange for gp. Making gp in RS3 is very easy already that not many players need to buy gp.
