I'm not crazy right? This just looks like the Battlepass system, almost entirely ripped from Fortnite or something and adapted for an MMO like Runescape.

But...why? I don't see the appeal or how this is good for players at all. A lot of the in game events, like building the stormbreaker were battlepass-ish. But everyone was on the same reward track, you could just skip a lot of it with runecoins, and it wasn't that hard to actually get all the rewards, in addition to usually earning a decent amount of xp or something along the way.
This...I don't like this, seems unnecessary, to say the least.

I'm premier club and this system makes me hate this game even more! No original thought anymore by any programmers. Are the developers even capable of thinking of anything original for the game anymore? When can we have some FUN bleeping CONTENT?
EDIT: removed some worse remarks.

By the way it isn't Halloween anymore, you missed it by a couple weeks. Points at the zombie yak cosmetics and laughs hysterically.

P.s. - Reason why Fortnite is successful is because they MAKE their game FUN, so players want to support them financially.
Best wishes to all.

Actually Fortnite is not that fun to every player. It is fun but lacks variety. Players get bored after a year or two and now the game is literally dying.

According to Superdata's September report:

"Fortnite hits lowest point since launch just before “Fortnite Chapter 2“. We estimate Fortnite revenue across all platforms declined 43% month-over-month in September, marking the worst performing month of revenue since November 2017."

Battle Pass is not the ideal de facto monetization tool, but just a supplement, so Epic Games is bringing out new monetisation ideas like selling EA's SW Jedi: Fallen Order crossover products as well as investing into Rocket League, a totally different genre of game.

As for making Premier Pass fun, I really hope it is not the get 2 mil xp a day for 2 weeks variety or it won't last long.

Not a fan of battle pass-esque monetisation either and tbh it looks mostly like stuff that got ripped out of ‘Land out of time’ / Halloween. So it’s a skip from me as well, shame because some of the stuff actually looked pretty good. Support

Actually Battle Passes are better designed to be tedious and boring to entice annoyed players to buy skips for monetisation purpose.

Or in the case of a more well designed battle pass (the one in use for Destiny 2 comes to mind), to provide a stream of seasonal content earnable through gameplay stretched out over a period of time.

That's Season Pass you are talking about. Of course if the content has a seasonal theme instead of just randomly getting 2-5 million xp a day it will be less boring. However, I don't see any seasonal events announced for Yack Track.

you know fortnight wasnt the first game to do a battlepass system, plus its free cosmetics provided your vip.

I see this as an absolute win!

And the mod Labcoat on her twitter said this is designed to be easy, like you can do it in a week if you wish, but should take about 2 to 3 weeks if you go easy theres no timegates unlike other pass or event earning systems.

Then you are insane. Why would I, with maxed out skills chop hundreds of yew logs? Could I do it? Sure, Do I want to when I have 99 woodcutting, fletching and firemaking? Hell no.
It becomes worse the higher your levels, and it doesn't account for many training methods.
It is lazy and much like when they added squeal of fortune, now treasure hunter, so on and so forth, its not a win, it is a loss. Doing pseudo addictive things to try and suck more money out of people is a complete goddamned loss.

If you play RS for the levels and you have the maximum level you want, of course you're not going to want to train that skill any longer. That's why there are three options for you for each task. Either chop your trees, choose the other task, or use a Yak Track task skip.

There are other players who play RS for fun however, and they don't care if they've reached their level targets. These players will chop those trees down to complete the task because they'll find it fun.

I did not enjoy the first Yak Track. I did not participate in the second Yak Track. However, each subsequent Yak Track has been fun - to me. Lessons are being learned at each release, and more options are becoming available whilst not forcing us to complete insane tasks, such as building 1250 demonic thrones. It's still not perfect, but I enjoy the variety it brings to my playing.
