Items shouldn't be worth more to alch than they are to disassemble for invention. That's a balancing issue that needs to be fixed. Item values also shouldn't be higher pre processing than post processing if used in an artisanal skill. Starting with salvage, they could work on a more standardized formula for calculating the base in-game assigned value of items to keep them sensibly scaled to eachother and to their tiers/sources.
For example, bronze seems to start off at 20 gp, both as salvage and as a bar. Lower value items could potentially get buffed the same way higher ones would get nerfed depending on what they settle on for the new item value formula.
