I can't imagine they'll bring back old rares. I also wonder how rare it'll be to get a party hat. I was lucky - a friend of mine gifted this orange H'ween mask to me. :| I would love a black party hat.

According to their blog post, the more Nice Points you have to turn in, the greater your chances are of getting a rare item. Seems as if it's gonna be a better event than this year's Halloween event. I didn't hate it, but it seemed very lacking.

I'm glad you made this thread. Great topic of discussion. :)

I actually like the Halloween Flash Event format as it is less texting. It is RNG based but they only take 3 minutes. I know "the more Nice Points you have to turn in, the greater your chances of getting a rare item" seems appealing to most players but I probably will be out there eating, drinking and be merry IRL because of the holiday season. I will still pop in Christmas Village from time to time thanks to Mobile though.

The exchanging fair for shards for guaranteed (semi) rare prizes is very fair and cool too. It is like an hour each of different activities each day instead of long drawn out grinding for the next 2 months. I like this format too.

As for Vorkath, I will still fight him and I think the city seize gameplay will be a lot of fun too, but I probably will only kill him a couple of times a day when I can squeeze some time in. The 100 kills thing will be after Christmas and New Year most likely... too bad I don't think we can AFK Vorkath.

I'm wondering what the market price for the Black Party hat is going to end up being. Most of the new rares (Golden P Hat, Halloween Masks) stay around 200-300m, but apparently, these drop rates are going to be much more rare.

Might they be closer to the price of Assassin walk or things like that perhaps?

Anybody's guess actually as it is all up to the actual drop rate. If Jagex only drop a few hundreds of Black Party Hats, they are going to be a lot more expensive than even the all the existing rare Party Hat.

I have a feeling the drop rate is much much lower than Golden Party Hat and such, but there will be more than just a couple of thousands of them. My current guest is over ten billion each but not quite expensive than the extremely rare blue, one, purple and such.

rares are useless items in this game we need actual updates like new abilities or something better then stupid rare items which have no use in the game

Rares are good for trading and as cosmetics, and therefore not useless. What better than the "useless rares" (according to you)? Of course, the "useless rare" AND actual updates like Battle of Fortinthry.

We are also getting new ability, new BiS Ranged Gear, first ever Necromancy weapon overrides and pocket slot item, on top of a new quest and new City Seize encounters.

The purple Santa hat is nice. I don’t think I can play all day for that..and the outfit is nice. According to the news post, there are old items returning. You get them with currency.

‘Christmas Spirit is exclusively earned via gameplay by participating in the seasonal activities of Christmas Village.’
“We’re all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one”

Old items of values returning, as well as new ones like a new semi-rare dye similar to Aurora perhaps. The old ones are bought with currencies earned from Santa Village activities and announced with the latest official news.

New valuable items probably come from the old gift wrapping paper event. Practically I think I have a good chance getting something valuable and seasonal from this event just doing things randomly at my old pace and own ways. I got Aurora dye before. I wish I can get Black Party Hat, but it is just a wish and more realistically I will be happy just to get a dye or two AND the Santa Village items.

Phats and h masks etc all original did never had the purpouse to be this expensive.
It was just a cosmetic thing that was fun to wear.

I would like to see this back, but sadly I think lot of people would be insanely mad because its a video game ;)

Just throw the rewards back into a nice even quest and problem solved.
I hate the rng based things honestly its grindy and makes runescape feel like just any other game.
The quests did separate runescape form other games for me.

"SEASONAL QUEST: "IT'S SNOW BOTHER"

While spirits have been raised in the underworld, Christmas Spirit has been declining across Gielinor. Santa Claus himself has taken notice, and has tasked the Snow Imps (and you!) to spread some cheer! Lumbridge, Falador, Varrock and Fort Forinthry deserve a Christmas makeover, so get ready to deck the streets in tinsel and lights. Once everything is adequately festive, you'll also give Santa a hand delivering presents to various iconic characters from across RuneScape!

This quest will have the places mentioned take on a much more festive look for the season and these decorations will be returning each year to make Wintumber a more merry time of year. The Quest will return each year around Christmas - but as this quest is only available for a limited time each year, it does not award a Quest Point and is not required for your treasured Quest Cape!

Completing the quest will award you with the following :

Santa's Little Helper Outfit
Winter Scarf
Winter Hat
A Christmas override for Fort Forinthry
2000 Christmas Spirit (We'll talk a little later about what this is used for!)
3 Experience granting lamps
Access to a daily repeatable present delivery activity for some extra Christmas Spirit
Access to the present wrapping activity.

What's better than just a seasonal Christmas quest with 4 cosmetics among other goodies? Of course, a seasonal Christmas quest with 4 cosmetics among other goodies PLUS many other Christmas events rewarding us with far more new and returning cosmetics as well as a chance to earn Black Party Hat and more.
