...they will come.

Later. In a Whodunnit quest near you.

Here's some thoughts I had when constructing Fort Forinthry and completing the quest "New Foundations":

1. While the POH has still faded into near obscurity, the Construction skill no longer feels aimless and dependent upon it.

Over the past few years, we've seen Construction as a skill slowly jump out of the house portal through updates like the God Statues D&D, portable workbenches, and Construction Contracts. These updates, while substantial in improving the mere training of the skill, missed the very important payoff of engaging with said training methods. The reward space. Fort Forinthry is first piece of content that is directly tied to Construction that actual provides rewarding purpose beyond providing the player with a really sick....teleport location that is literally useless otherwise. This does not mean that Jagex should ignore the POH, but it does remove the burden of having to train Construction simply because one -has- to for bigger goals such as the Max cape. The Fort provides some of the greatest hits from the House Party era, as well as new-agey skilling areas and remote access to various systems throughout Gielinor, encouraging the player to earn the Construction cape in the process.

2. The amount of time spent building Fort Forinthry, even starting at 99, felt balanced.

I'm not going to review how actually trying to -level- Construction through Fort Forinthry's building and reinforcement works because I have no need to dive into that. However, it felt long enough from post-99 Construction that it wasn't forgettable and thus rewarding, yet short enough that you didn't get bored too quickly.

3. The -base- XP rate for the Chapel feels uncompetitive at lower Construction levels.

Now, Prayer is a rather tricky thing to tackle, and I think Jagex certainly took balancing into account here from the looks of it. However, I would argue that there are two issues may prevent Fort Forinthry's chapel from seeing the same kind of communal use as a popular host's POH back in the House Party days.

> The Powder of Burials is incredibly accessible, which provides players who simply have gold pieces on hand with the best xp/h right out of the gate. For players who simply wish to have more "afk" prayer training, the Chaos Altar in the Wilderness will soon have no threat whatsoever to contend with should they be opted out of PvP. (At least, for the time being. Jagex may come up with a better threat system to replace the current one in the future.)

> Players need very high Construction to have "Gilded Altar with Burners" rates full stop, as opposed to simply visiting another player's POH.

Suggestion: Lean in harder on the chance to save bones while offering them at higher tiers, but make the 350% xp rate accessible from tier 1.

4. The Fort's visuals are exceptional and provide a very immersive feeling as the player builds them up from the land.

The only thing that felt a little immersion-breaking was the mass of other players also with me in my little empty field, but aside from release-day massing, it really looked like we turned the area into one on par with other locales in the game in terms of visual display. A player-built town almost.

5. The cast of characters in our Fort feel like they will be explored in future content drops, and have just enough background to intrigue me.

We have a person who managed the Blue Moon Inn, a Fremminik logistical mind, a street preacher of unknown faith, and the former Lumberyard guy. Hijinks better ensue here. It feels well set up.
