But, OP's response seemingly is he is not looking for the best solution to sell his spirit shards, but he claimed over max cash was bugged but he refused to test it.

Very odd. I wonder if there's different logic depending on whether you're already above a max stack or not.

But in my case, I had to do multiple sells of 'Max All' to sell my 180m shards (4.5b gp) from a starting cash pile of ~680m.

Maybe the different NPCs' have different rules for some reason. Presumably a bug but there might be a logic to it.
