With today's update, the logout timer is extended to ten minutes.

So all of you players who don't like to actually "play" RuneScape can AFKscape with near impunity now.

Jagex have started down the path of allowing automated gameplay with this update.

Not good.

No. They didn't start down the path today, Jagex started down the path of allowing automated gameplay long, long ago.

We are still, way before RS3 follow down the path to extend the AFK timer to 30 minutes, but arguable they should to make all Jagex games consistent.

Actually not. We have alching machines, rested XP at the fort, Michelania, Corrupted ores etc.

It started way back when they removed the random events that were there exactly to prevent people from AFKing.

Classic was 30 seconds logout timer (no lobby in those days), after that it was changed to 2 minutes, then changed to 5 and now its 10 = progress.

Alot of it might be recommendations from UK's Health and Safety Executives who know the constant clicking has a high risk of RSI.

AFKing was against the rules in the early days but that got removed years ago.

That will be offline skilling training. It is a feature touted for a project coded named Runescape Remastered, but we don't have it in RS3 yet, not that it won't be a feature in the future.
