With the latest and greatest TWIR updates, we RS3 players are also enjoying a very lengthy list of updates requested by the players, and implemented for the players.

To me, I can't be happier to see even more great improvements to the already top-notch bank presets loadouts in RS3. Who don't want being able to reload previous preset without going into our bank interface? This update will save us over 9 million clicks in the next 22 years of RS3.

Customizable Excalibur is also a big thumb up. It sets up the template for making other gear in RS3 customizable and accessible on the action bars in the future.

Of course, not just the Community Hitlist, we also have a lot of updates to Vorkath, GameJam, Christmas events among others. However, there are too many things to be thankful for in a week, so this thread is just limited to the discussions of what Jagex listed under Community Hitlist on their TWIR Patch Notes.

What community hitlist update do you like the most, please share with us.

The "Community" Hitlist screams virtue signalling to me.

There are many communities in RS, and each community have a very long list of changes they want to occur. These lists are so long that it is infeasible for Jagex to complete them all. So how do they decide which are the updates we want to see most?

This is a genuine question, as I have not seen any poll result saying that a customisable Excalibur is higher on the list than a POH rework. I have not seen more suggestions on these forums for a quicker way of loading presets than I have for a minigame rework.

I don't doubt they are good updates.

I doubt that the community as a whole chose them above all other updates.

It's more likely that a mod has decided that they would like to see those changes, and is passing it off as something the "community" has asked for.

Don't get me wrong, I love these types of updates. I just don't love that the updates many of us have been wanting for years are still being fobbed off as something the "community doesn't want".

Don't you know we don't have just one single Community Hitlists update? We already had two and RS3 said they would continue to do more.

Look! RS3 and their Community Hitlists are not just evennt that last for, say 8 weeks. No worries about the bigger and bigger RS3 community and longer and longer Community Hitlists. RS3 is a forever game, they already have plans for the next 20 years if you have read the Runescape 20 Aniversary Year Book. Plenty of time to address to making bigger and bigger improvements to the community.

"I doubt that the community as a whole chose them above all other updates."

Foremost, you need to understand Community Hitlists updates aren't major updates. Most of them are just very good QoL updates. Of course, there are likely much bigger updates than customizable Excalibur such as new skills, new bosses, Fort Forinthry skilling updates, Misthalin storylines etc the commuity as a whole want more. Their wishes will be granted too, but not from the devs who work on Ninja sized QoL updates like the Community Hitlists.

That said, if you look at the lengthy "patch" notes, it is not hard to see even the Community Hitlists themselves are substantial, they are just a portion of all the updates in this RS3 week. The RS3 team as a whole are able deliver multiple kinds of content for multiple groups of players through division of labor. One single project won't totally push everything else off in RS3.

You've written a lot there and said very little.

I am merely pointing out that Jagex are better off sticking with the "Ninja Update" brand than switching to "Community Hitlist". The content is approached in exactly the same way, but it will stop players believing they are finally being listened to. Yes, some updates will be tackled, but this will be a small proportion of the complete list, and regardless of how many Community Hitlists there are, there will always be a long list of items not added to the game.

I will say it again. I like these types of update. I only have a problem with how they are branded.

I have written what I have learned and we can all learn from Jagex, I didn't say a word in the RSOF. It doesn't take long for RS3 to put up another developer blog and survey about their next and perhaps forever Community Hitlits today. They have also reiterated what Community Hitlists are and they are exactly like I have mentioned:

"We asked you about:

Bugs we should prioritise
Tweaks to existing content you'd like to see
Issues that break you out of your game experience
Some topics were beyond the remit of the Community Hitlist. We couldn't tackle these within the scope of our initial aims, so we asked not to receive suggestions for:

New content or additions to the game
Graphical updates or reworks
Extensive overhauls such as new training methods or skill reworks
These are all important topics too, of course, but we've already got plenty of amazing projects underway across the team with these subjects in mind!"

Community Hitlists is pretty much our Ninja updates, except with no specific theme and more balanced - with 5 bug fixes, 5 tweaks and 5 issues, as we can see from the latest Community Hitlists survey blog released yesterday.

The 5 tweaks I love the most are the bank preset and action bar updates. In the past with the Ninja Strikes system, perhaps all 5 Bank Presets updates would be released in one go, but now they are released separately. The pros of the new Hitlists format is it is more balanced and each batch of release will likely have something different kinds of players like.

Now, knowing what Community Hitlists are, as the RS3 team articulated it just yesterday, what is your most liked TWIR: Community Hitlists update?

WTF is a community hitlist? Sounds dire.

Shoddy replacement for the Ninja strikes imo.

I have provided the official RS3 description of what Community Hitlists are just 2 posts above yours. I believe the RS3 team has articulated everything.

Too bad you don't like it, but it is what the RS3 community asked for. Perhaps they like Nnja Strikes to be on more than just one theme in each release, so they think the pros are they have more diversity of goodies different players asked for in each release.

Again, too bad if you think it is "shoddy", but keep in mind Community Hitlists are as their name suggested, open communication directly with the RS3 community. You can tell them what you think are good and not "shoddy" from the Survey.

Meanwhile, in this discussion, do you want to share with us how to make Community Hitlists not "shoddy", perhaps with examples from the Community Hitlists updates in TWIR?
