After a significant amount of time playing the new skill, I just thought I'd write out my feelings about it which are (of course) spoiled by the title; Thank you.
Jagex, this is one of the best skills in the entire game. Topped only by Archaeology for its lore implications and potential of expansion as more stories are written, Necromancy's a beautifully approachable and best of all
rewarding
style of gameplay that's really changed the way I look at and approach bosses. As an autistic person with a lot of anxiety when it comes to multitasking (Dishonor among Thieves' vault cracking section was very bad for me lol), Necromancy's incredibly accessible for me and doesn't require micromanaging a ton of ability bars or tracking different cooldowns. Abilities are there for me to use when I need them, with additional rewards for keeping an eye on certain buffs like Shadow but no pure necessity for them. This is opposite how I feel regarding Ranged, Melee and Magic, all of which require significant multi-bar multitasking, equipment switches and internal understanding of how certain abilities flow together.
Not only that, but the Ritual system is fulfilling as well. I'm able to be entirely self-sufficient in it with a lot of the material grind in itself being a training method (I need powerful ink, so I'm making lesser->greater->powerful). So far it feels like this skill is half-released given that even the achievement diaries only go up to medium, but I'm optimistic and looking forward to the releases.
This is the gold standard, right now. This is what combat mechanics in RuneScape should be. Fun and engaging for less-skilled or disabled players and very generous when engaged in a more dedicated and high-efficiency manner, yet not
required
for rewards. In over 15 years I haven't had as much fun as I have training this.

They think they are "the many", and I "the few". They think this gives them the right to walk over me.
