I've been growing herbs as a major source of income for the last 8-10 years, mostly the high-margin ones where the leaf-to-seed cost ratio is in the double digits (e.g. dwarf weed, lantandyme).

Now, nobody's herbs die, and the price of seeds has doubled (or more).

I can hardly imagine what this will do to the supply of herbs, especially in the next week, right before dxp, while I have thousands of herbs stockpiled, ready to sell.

I'm just watching my wealth evaporate. Not to mention the value of my no-herb-death monolith perk has just evaporated too.

Worse than all the free onyxes from the Priff gem mine, imo.

Nobody was complaining about herb death, it was just part of life. There was NO NEED for this update. Driving down the cost of herbs for the many herblore students has destroyed a profitable business.

Herbs could crash but I really doubt it. The only herbs coming into the game are going to be from skillers and the few pvmers that want to go for the incense sticks saving perk.

We actually see herb prices shooting up since RS3 previewed the update on October 19. For instance:

dwarf weed: 6814 -> 9640
lantadyme: 5028 -> 6621
cadantine: 853 -> 1878 (more than doubled!)
kwuarm: 808 -> 1559 (almost doubled!)
ranaar: 5782 -> 6466
torstol: 6466 -> 7312

Spirit weed is about the only one seeing drop in price, and that's because Arch Glacor drop the seeds and not the herbs, unlike dwarf weeds and lantadyme that see noticeable rise in prices because many bosses drop these 2 herbs.

it sounds like you put all your eggs in one basket expecting herbs to never receive an update ever.

the monolith still has use as said in the news post, prices change over the years as content comes out.

i can agree the no death was a bit drastic however the reason onyx's got removed was more or less do to alch cost and a few other minor factors.

as for dxp, you dont HAVE to sell this dxp if you think margins are going to be bad. there is 4 dxp's a year now so youll have plenty of time to see if prices even out.
with every update prices rise and fall, give a month or two.
pssst....we know who you are. Hail Sithis!

You are correct, Darth, I could just hold the herbs I have and sell them later once all the players get their comp capes back. Prices should stabilize.

I was just a bit upset over the timing, right before DXP and all. And I do appreciate the new herb patch.

My profitable enterprise is still profitable, just not as much, not right now, with seed prices up.

What I like about herbing is how AFK it is; plant and go do something else for an hour and a half. I will continue to do it, not rage-quit, and still enjoy the game.

After all, blood runes go for over a thousand each . . .

We don't need to wait for players to get their Comp Cape. Herb seeds are already falling back. Nobody buy my Dwarfweed seeds for 10k each anymore after just 1 day. :(

It is really simple. Most players have already used up all their lifetime saving of beans in an hour yesterday. They can only plant a small fixed number of seeds even if they play 24 hours a day now. So much lower demand for seeds and much lower of herbs after just 1 day, and prices aren't going to drop much if they aren't about to go back up in a not too distant future.

Mmm... I think it will probably turn out fine. For me, the thing I was most happy to see about this update was that they've at least started the process of reducing/removing more skilling products from monster drop tables. Herbs should be acquired by farming.

the comp cape should not be an issue at all. the requirement for the comp cape had a year grace period. That being said there is a glitch that is preventing it from being put on atm. It occurred on the day reset cause I could were my comp after update until then.
