I honestly don't care if you think it's good money. What do you think would happen if they made it AFK?

Farming
runs
are never meant to be AFK. It will never be AFK. AFK is only for gaining xp, but updates like herb and herb seeds are aimed at balancing the ECONOMY.

As I mentioned, there is no way to AFK herb farming for a remoted decent period. RS3 intend to make player to control the economy anyway. They aren't going to artificially inflate or collapse any items. Even if farmers can fully AFK to make big money out of herbs, it won't last long because pvmers control the supply of herb seeds. They will make herb seeds very expensive and farmer will have to sell herbs at high prices to make profits. Herb prices won't collapse as long as skillers and pvmers are mutually dependent in RS3's balanced and player controlled economy.
Once upon a time nothing was AFK. Stay on topic as I didn't suggest all farming should be afk just bean gated growth potions.

Nothing suggested whatever "gated growth potions" will be AFK. This is the Recent Game Update Forums anyway. Simply no Jmod ever suggested anything, not even in the future.
This is about a recent update. The fastest way to get the new Crux Favor is using Leafy Growth Potions and I'm saying it's soul killing constantly doing the same thing over and over. It's worse than livid farm.

Unfortunately we don't get growth potions AFK. Most players used up all their beans in an hour or so already.

Lmao. Have you not seen MTX? They are constantly influxing "rares" to effect the economy. Why else would they offer promotions to get Gold party hats, Green santas, and purple halloween masks?

They inject items, which effects the economy.

But...

I think there is good and bad about this update.

While I tend to get the poop end of the RNG stick ( afraid I have no spoons in my bank) I did notice a fairly reduced average per 1 seed runs post update from months of normal runs.

I got about 1-2 less herbs post update on 1 stack. (limited testing, but when an average dips you notice)

My problem, is there is a reduced herb influx (not always bad) and the seed replacement plan seems to be set on 10 herbs to 1 seed. IE helwyr. Used to be 90-120 grimy lants, now its about 8-11 seeds. Fairly large dump of lants to about 1/10th of the "drop". This is obviously 1 example that stood out, but I digress. If you are reducing the influx of seeds (no mob drops reliable frequency of x4, x7, x10 seeds a drop) and have now 8 patches to utilize, unless your bank has a metic ton of seeds on standby, I dont see 4k+ seed stockpiles lasting very long.

While yes, you do get "more herbs" per time cycle with the minimum life update, and with a bit of RNG on your side, you could land slide to 140+ herbs a trip, thats also at the expense of 70-80 seeds...

IF the 10 stack seed option returned 50% value, I think I could find it a bit more tasteful of an update. As it stands, super/ultra compost gutted from this update. (3/6 = 15/x ) simple cross multiplication would be X = 30... at the moment it equals 18... so 12 less herbs under the effects of ultra compost seems wack. If X= 30 that would be 50% efficiency which is still trash, but a lot more reasonable. At best we are around 12% with compost.

I know coding can be tricky, and spaghetti math is a specialty at Jagex, but I think this is designed to be a seed dump, and herb nerf over all. Which, if they were going for farming to be profitabl

Perhaps you don't realize there are still plenty of grimy herb drop sources. Some of them may have been omitted for a long time but now they can be viable again.

For instance, Demon Flash Mobs. They drop heaps of noted herbs commonly at decent quantity. The other source is Crystal Keys. Most players used to sell them or have them forgotten sitting in their banks, but now they are really good herb sources.

A lot of slayer mobs drop herbs too, and they still do. Now that they appear in Wildy frequently, and more come as random threat spawns. There are a lot of added herb sources there too.

Balancing the economy is not about the "4k+ seeds stockpile" niche group of players accumulated previously that most of them end up in their banks collecting dust, it is about the Balanced Future of all kind of RS3 players so that the game can keep growing its revenue at 18-20% annually for the next 20 years.

If it's so soul crushing then just...don't do it? Do it over time?

The more you unlock, the faster it goes as is. If you want it quickly, you're gonna have to do some grindy BS lol. Otherwise do it as intended.

I did switch to waiting an hour for my herbs to grow. Still it's the worst grindy thing I've done and I maxed out Livid Farm twice without buyable vines. At least at livid farm there's a period of rest until the next loop.

I think it's the patch bombs that made it the worst even though it makes it go million times quicker.

Everything has a Make-X now you never see Runescape Classic Carpal tunnel anymore.

Make-x is designed for ARTISAN skill, not gathering.
