The amazing thing is that Jagex apparently never learn. Blocking people from placing fires in such places is always something they do afterwards when people complain about it. It would be nice if they were able to figure it out before releasing new updates, especially as it is not the first time people obstruct an area with fires.
Ashes was being sold for £20m per 28 unnoted, that's why people were doing it, not to troll. When rich players racing for ranks offer crazy money, the others will do whatever to earn it.
Like I said as an iron I can't trade but understand why others would want to make easy money. Portables like I explained was for the vials of water without leaving the area.

Regardless, it made even less sense why those players had to burn logs for ashes at the ritual site when they could have done it in less crowdy locations and worlds for much better efficiency.
