Hi guys,

I just wanted to leave a note as I have almost 6000 hours of in-game time on this account and felt I should at least share my thoughts on the current competitive state of RS. I feel as if RS3 really lacks a variety of competitive modes/active group content (dead minigames, zero meaningful PvP activities, Dung being a dead skill, etc). This is obviously a known issue, however, I've recently started an account on OSRS out of boredom of RS3 and was blown away by the competitive/meaningful Minigames/PvP content on OSRS.

OSRS obviously has many more active players but it is certainly clear that there are so many more options of competitive gameplay (so many active minigames, PVP content, etc). It was exactly what is missing in RS3. It was refreshing to see how active Last Man Standing in OSRS is. Why doesn't RS3 have its own version of content like this? I believe adding more competitive content (with coveted rewards, of course) to RS3 would bring more players to the game and add a more competitive nature to the game.

The Wilderness rework was clearly a flop (apologies Devs, graphics look nice though!). I disagreed with adding the option to turn PvP off, however, I would have accepted this option if it was clearly much more efficient to have PvP enabled (xp buffs, drop buffs, restricted non-PvP players from certain drop tables, etc). I would have loved to see Wilderness bosses (Risk/Reward scenarios) like OSRS (of course, an RS3 friendly version). This would have added much more value to going into the Wilderness (both as a PvE player and Pker) and a little more of of excitement/adrenaline pump along with it!

Just wanted to put this out there to see if anyone else feels the same. I love RS3 and OSRS, however, OSRS seems to scratch that competitive itch that I wish RS3 was able to do!

Thanks!

RS3 isn't focusing on pvp. It is nothing new.

However, pvp is fading fast in OSRS too, really fast.

Their seasonal DMM is really dead. They probably won't run it anymore due to lack of funding and resources. OSRS has already told us even if there is another DMM, they are not planning on putting up a cash prize there. Bumper! Talking about an esport-wannabe with no cash prize. :(

There aren't many wildy pvp activities in RS3, but hey OSRS PvP is equally dead. Even OSRS's biggest pvp Golden Gnome Award winning streamer Odablock admitted:

"OSRS PKing Is Completely Dead..."

Everybody can see all the OSRS Wildy PvP worlds like W369 are completely empty and they have been empty for almost 2 years. It is not even recent.

Last Man Standing? Do you mean Last Bot Standing?

Minigame "competitions" are still here in RS3. They just switched to the Spotlight format.

Dung being a dead skill with group content? Too bad you think so, and even worse when OSRS doesn't even have a dead group skill. :(

Actually they are adding more competitions in RS3 of late. We just had Competitions in RS3 FSW but there is none in OSRS FSW. RS3 is talking about doing another FSW already.

OSRS has been running the competitive Leagues fewer and fewer, again, due to funding and resources concerns. Future of OSRS Leagues is in limbo, and even if there is another one they are talking about a re-run of League 2 or 3... On the other hand, there are talks RS3 may be picking up some forms of competitive content like fresh idea League of its own and it may even come later this year.

The future regarding competitions seems to be rising on RS3 but failing in OSRS of late. :)

My friend, I would probably agree with you that there is not a group more starved for content in RuneScape 3 than a PvPer.

> Old School replaced its problematic sand casino with.....another PvP activity that does a really good job of matching players of equivalent skill against one another for a 1v1. RS3 turned -its- Duel Arena into an Agility Course/Farming/Hunter Area - which resulted in PvPers losing content on our side of the fence.

> The Wilderness update last year was only a net loss for PvPers that enjoyed killing PvMers/skillers. Wilderness PKing was last -severely- wounded when the Evolution of Combat got rid of any viability specific stat builds had as well as the viability to secure kills in cheaper gear - not to mention the fact that nobody knew how to pk all of a sudden under the new combat system.. This was further apparent when Old School naturally stole the PvP community's content creators. (Yes, the split community means that RuneScape does in fact, compete with itself for certain types of players.)

I would welcome LMS and the PvP Arena as pieces of content in RS3, and I think both games could reach potentially E-Sport-worthy PvP success with a small team vs small team MOBA-style game mode (which I think lends itself to RuneScape 3 particularly due to the abilities functioning very similar to MOBA champs'.)

Before ANY of that though. Jagex needs to try and focus on making PvP enjoyable, variable again, and engaging to a player base that naturally prefers to skill, quest, or fight boss monsters.

It would be an investment that the RuneScape 3 team would need to be willing to make even in spite of a model that determines the update schedule runs through the game's active lore.

Consider this post support, OP.
