Although Jagex didn't make it visible, today (UK time) is the 22nd birthday of Runescape.

We do have the usual Balloon Drop Celebration, and this year seemingly we also have free Frank's Chest Keys to celebrate it most of this month,

Have fun, and good to see Runescpae (or RS3 to those who prefer to call it) keeps going, and going, and going, and going strongly and longer than the Eveready Bunny.

Let's also welcome a new dawn on the Horizon for RS3's next 22 years.

We do have the usual Balloon Drop Celebration, and this year seemingly we also have free Frank's Chest Keys to celebrate it most of this month,

"Aside from being a small added thanks to all you 'Scapers for you dedication, this event is also a test for us to see how we can reward your time more flexibly. We'll be keen to hear your thoughts as we go!"


The one good thing about this event is that it cuts down on the FOMO just a tad by setting a weekly limit for the amount of keys you can get to 12. Perhaps they are do this for all events going forward.

Never a fan of the Balloon drop celebration. Time to follow an trail of Treasure.

From RS Wiki, the rewards seem to be pretty good actually:

Not counting the 100 mil coins, Pirate Hooks and D Mattock and D picks, the average price of one piece of loot seems to be 300 to 400k and we are getting 3 rolls per chest. So 1 mil gp worth per chest doing almost nothing other than playing the game the usual way is pretty good reward.

Honestly, this is not RuneScape anymore and even though it bears the name it has never been the same. It's just a company who bought the REAL RuneScape creation and then converted the game to a cash cow monopoly.




I would like to say happy 22 years to the REAL RuneScape creator, as their work still provides the best content the game has, even without touching the game for the past 10-12 years.


The lessons I learned back in the day I still carry with me to this day. The lessons I learnt, the people I met and the skill sets I have gained from the game are ever-going and ever-growing.

Here's to hoping this current monopoly creator get's bought out from someone who wants to create an actual game.

It's truly sad that the younger generation has to deal with this kind of nonsense, and it is something I will never forgive myself, for not being able to contribute a positive learning environment for these people. Hopefully it get's adjusted ASAP and by ASAP I mean yesterday, or 10 years ago.

Even better, the Birthday free Pirate's Key timer doesn't reset when we logout. Essentially, we don't have to even skill and kill and still get all the rewards. We can just bank stand, chat, or simply login whenever we like, go walk the dog, take a shower etc and get timeout and still get the keys.

It will only open once on Feb 1st 2023 ;)

And stay around until Feb 28th for people to collect the said loot Time to follow an trail of Treasure.

Wow, I had no idea and wouldn't even imagine it was like that. Runescape does a great job of confusing me.

I was expecting to open it with every key, every day, every week. Even 2 weeks sounds good by now.

Yeah it is a weird one for sure. The in game dialogue for the event is confusing and does not make it clear what is actually happening when you turn in a key ( Even the check progress does not have a indication).

I'm not sure who designed such a poorly worded event :/ Time to follow an trail of Treasure.

Good! That's even better as I don't even have to spend time every day going to the Chest.

We still get the same number of rolls for the same chance of same rewards regardless we open the chest daily or once at the end of this month.
