Hi. I want to preface this by saying that I understand a lot of people like this new update and what I'm about to say is entirely my own take on this. I am far from a hardcore RS3 player as I only play a month or two out of the year.

Okay, so here's the deal:

I played a Mainscape account for years. In big part because it was easier and the Ironman mode scared me. I didn't feel I had the focus to do all the grinding necessary for an Ironman. Yet, at some point, I came around and tried an Ironman and it was game changing for me. Everything feels far more rewarding and the challenge in PVM when I can't buy all the best gear for my level makes it fun. However, between both Ironman and Mainscape, one thing has ALWAYS been true for me: I hate farming. It's by far the worst skill in the game for me. I've always disliked gameplay that has to be planned around RL time. I don't like doing the Guthix Cache for that very reason as it makes it feel like I have to plan my actual life around the game. Farming falls very much within that category/feel.

Now, I could bypass most of the farming content by doing PoF which is decent, and by getting my necessary herbs from bosses and slayer drops. This is where the new update obviously plays in, as now Ironmen are entirely forced to do herb runs in order to get any reasonable amount of herbs. That also means that while Overloads were locked behind a certain Herblore level before, they are now effectively locked behind a farming level too and it just made me feel like I have no real reason to come back to the game. I had a goal to work towards (Soul Split and Overloads) and in order for me to achieve one of those now I have to do content I really, absolutely detest.

What I'm trying to say is that as usual I feel like Ironmen are just an after-thought and it sucks, since there are plenty of people that primarily play that mode.

Thanks for letting me express my frustration. I won't read any responses, as this was just feedback.

Ironmen are just a small percentage of total players, and ironmen who don't plant seeds, a very precious resource they can't get from trading are really rare.

Unfortunately you are in such a microscopic percentage of RS3 players, but think about ironmen who don't boss but rely solely on skilling to get herbs? They should be jumping for joy now.

Please also be advised although bosses don't drop herbs, slayer mobs still drop them. You can still get herbs killing regular mobs if you want to.

OP, now you know how I felt about Dungeoneering. I detested, for a variety of reasons. But Ironmen do place many restrictions upon themselves that they really shouldn't but that's your choice.

Back in the day, I remember pure skillers, pure Prayer, level 3s, any and all odd combinations meant to make them stand out from the rest of the pack. Now, the order of the day seems to be to conform as much as possible with everyone else and become pretty much homogeneous.

Apart from fashionscape, of course, which is completely arbitrary and ridiculous but there you go.

It just is an issue when PvM content drops things in quantities, it totally outshines the actual skilling method intended to come to those things - that was an issue for mining, that was in issue for farming - and that's still an issue for things like woodcutting (albeit that skill is so broken it's probably for the best to leave it be for now). Of course it also negatively impacts me, since I do not really plan to plant my now seeds drops, but it certainly is better for the overall balance of the game.

If you absolutely despise farming, you still can obtain herbs via slayer. Albeit obviously in not as generous amounts like you're used from bossing and you'd now get from farming - but it should be enough for some pots every once in a while - some herbs like arbuck excluded, but those only dropped in seeds form anyway.

This is 100% RuneScape now adays, unfortunately they have completely sold out and are trying to balance many, many things in order to make more profit off players.

While most players just quit, instead of making a post or some do post *asking about PVP and minigames* and just get flamed to death from the PVM lovers, they generally never do get cared for while stating their opinions.

Jagex is ran from a profit only company, they do not cater to making purely good content, or in other words they don't care to make a good game, they make a game that is good but mainly makes them PROFIT, that is what they care for.

I would honestly say consider yourself lucky as is, they have been brave enough to have their devs say that they don't consider iron's a thought while making updates, but I would put my life on it that they most certainly do. Jagex wants people to be interested in Iron mode as it helps them add another membership player, and on top of that they know that 30-50% *if not more* of their small RS3 player base have Iron accounts.

*40 thousand accounts on iron mode that have at least 1700 total level* I'm sure by playing both main/iron you know irons are very active

*Keep in mind they need players to continue on mainscape as well, if mainscape dies then RS3 is going to be insanely difficult to advertise to new players and new company's to sell off to in the future. This is why they try to make ironmode hell sometimes, to lure the easyscapers back to mainscape, and make the #'s more equal.*

^ Hence why they got staff trying to act like they don't care about ironmode at all

I would say if you enjoy the game play it, but don't expect anything to adjust in a better way. The game will have it's up's and down's as they want players to hop between things *iron mode, mainscape, FSW events and more* and if they don't have some sort of boredom or bad content droughts, they won't pull the tiny RS3 player base where they can make more profit.

It's sad but true.
Always think creatively, and you shall be creative.

I know far more IM enjoy the new farming update than not. Many of the not-too-good-in-pvm ones just go farm easy seed dropping mobs like dark beasts and get far more seeds and far more herbs than they used to get. Even IM can easily get tens of herb seeds an hour killing regular mobs. Before the update, they could only farm 7 seeds every 75 minutes. They couldn't do crap with the surplus seeds except feeding them to farm animals. Now they should be happy to see they have loads of herbs if they are diligent in farming them.

Of course, the rare IM like OP who don't skill with all their precious resources like planting seeds may not find this updae is for them. However, such outlier IM will find most updates not for them when they don't plan to fully utilize their precious resources.
