I'm glad i'm not the only one who feels this way. Hopefully more people in the community feel the same way. maybe some people like it, but atleast give us the option which one to use. You can faintly hear the old "heartbeat" sound in the background. I would rather use that one.

"Elite and Master scan clues now change colour depending on how close you are Light blue -> Orange -> Red"

We sure can toggle off all audio content in RS3.

Good news for you, OP. You can toggle off sound and still be able to visually see how close you are to the location of the next clue, thanks to a recent game update made on July 3, 2023.

I imagine that, like many other new changes to the game, the sound will be something that we quickly become accustomed to.

Yes, and I am actually more accustomed to this week's update and loving the color change for my clue scan. I am tuning down audio features in the game so I can do clue scrolls and listen to music and news outside the game at the same time.

The sound definitely gives me a headache. That is unavoidable. My question: does that sound even do anything? If it changes, I cannot tell.

I'm just running around to look for the beep, which is an improvement. The beep is easy to hear, and to understand what it means. In the original version I was like a doctor with my stethoscope listening for the pulses. ALL other sounds must be turned off, that is delicate work!

The expanding rings seem like a good idea, but who is zoomed in close enough to gather that information reliably? It's on the same level as the original heartbeat pulses, that's some fine detail.

Color coded rings with the beep, and with an unobtrusive first sound would be ideal. If that sound is just telling me the scanner is running, that information shouldn't require multiple alarms.

Yes it does to me, when I turn up volume of audio features. But then I won't be able to fully enjoy other audio features either in the game or outside the game. For instance, I may not be able to hear the spawning of a crystal impling clearly, and I can't listen to music outside the game.

That's why I am glad we get the color scan update this week. To me, it is a minor patch that brings a lot of quality and flexibility to my overall gaming and real life experience. Choices and flexibility are great!

How does the sound change? I don't think other sounds matter, when the entire purpose is to finish the clue.

Did they say the color scan will be released? It was a 'game jam' new post. I'm not sure how that works. Are we supposed to ask for it? Is that information hidden behind Twitter and Discord login pages?

As in all audio visual features on all Windows apps and Windows itself, changes are customizable and noticeable to different users. Too bad you don't think "other sounds matter" but as long as other players do, then customization and more choices are good. If you don't find the changes helpful, you don't have to care about it. There is always an arrow or text telling us how far we are from the destination of a scan clue. We also see a flashing arrow when we are within the range of the destination too.

We don't ask for GameJam projects. They are the ideas of Jagex developers. I believe they are inspired from all sources of information not hidden behind a specific media like Twitter, Discord, Twitch, RSOF, Reddit etc. These ideas may come from other games or the Jmods' own unique and original thinking too.

If they have to ask for what we want and implement as such then they won't be their own dream projects and definitely not the idea of GameJam. On the other hand, we do have Jagex run surveys, Community Hitlist and such that we can voice our opinions so Jagex can assign such selected to the RS3 Jmods.
