After upgrading to the Jagex account, I find I can no longer log in on Linux. This should have been made obvious in the emails and on the upgrade page that it was irreversible and non-functional for linux users.
I'm very angry that we've been intentionally left out. I may have to cancel my account because of this, as I can't be expected to try running launchers through Wine or jumping through hoops to get it to work, when the regular official launcher could have been updated.

My point being, I didn't see the post. It wasn't in the important places, like the email sent out to say to upgrade now or on the page.
I suspect they want to drop official linux support now so they don't have to put resources into maintaining the client and allow third parties to continue to do it, which I think is disgusting, given the whole point of the new launcher is to 'provide a more secure experience' since they say not to trust third party software.

For what its worth, Jagex does have this page in the Support Centre for running the Jagex Launcher on Linux, but as you mention, it does involve emulating it via Wine or similar technologies:

https://help.jagex.com/hc/en-gb/articles/13413514881937-Downloading-the-Jagex-Launcher-on-Linux

We really have to consider the Jagex Account beta as an early access program - eventually, the only way to play will be with Jagex Accounts and the Jagex Launcher. Going through these steps on Linux would eventually become necessary anyway to keep playing the game. Updating the existing game client wouldn't work, since Jagex Accounts use an entirely different login process than RuneScape accounts did.

As there seem to be no official plans for native linux support (and I can't get any of the unofficial methods to work without grinding my poor laptop down and installing gbs of software) I've cancelled my membership.
Jagex won't notice.

The new Jagex Launcher needs Native Linux support with non Windows/Mac PCs taking up about 14% of the PC marketplace (11.1% confirmed Psuedo Linux) it's growing fast enough to surpass Mac soon who only makes up 17% of the PC marketplace, while Windows makes up the majority at 69%. Of that 1.38% of PC Gamers use Linux while only 2.48% of PC Gamers use Mac. If security is the main concern for this new client we need our own Native client. We used to have native support via RuneLite it now falls on Jagex to supply a native version since we no longer have one with this new update.

I'm trying to appeal to Jagex to make a native client for Linux via another forum If we want our own client we have to speak out!
