At the moment, there's no way of checking exactly what's in your wood box, other than emptying it all into your bank. The ore box has an 'inspect' option, so that you can do just that. Why on earth isn't it possible to do the same with the wood box? Seems like a really basic thing, yet it's been overlooked
Hadn't had a chance to test it out so far, since I still have infinite porters for a while - but this thing doesn't not have some mouseover showing you its contents? That's how I check the ore box after all...

Yes, you can mouseover the contents. It's the wood sprites I have issues with. They're so similar in colour, it's hard to tell which is which, without emptying the whole lot into the bank. The 'inspect' option on the ore box puts a written list of the contents into the chatbox, which I find helpful. For me, it would be good if the wood box had the same function.
I don't really care what spirits they are as I can use them directly from my wood box without taking them out. If they want to add an "inspect" option it is fine, but TBH it is really irrelevant as I just load a bank preset and have all the wood spirits I keep in the bank (without careing what they are) and the wood box in my inventory. Then I just use the "fill" option to put all spirits in my wood box and chop chop chop happily my merry way.

I don't know what the limit is on the number of sprites you can keep in the wood box but so far, I haven't needed to bank any. I'd find it useful to know what type they are because if, for instance, I had a lot more of one variety than another, I'd make a point of chopping that particular type of wood. Hence why I'd find an 'inspect' option useful - and for me, not irrelevant at all. But we all have different ways of playing.....
YES PLEASE. I get it. I was wanting to clean up my bank of a bunch of random spirits, and having them in my Wood Box does not allow me to know which ones are there by name. I have added your QFC to my suggestion about the Spirits: Quick find code: 74-75-604-66283026
I suppose for the time being, we need to have them in our inventory rather than in the Wood Box.

Using band preset will be very useful for you to tell what kind of wood spirits you have and how many of them, because you load them into your inventory with not just big icons but all big text descriptions of what they are.
The wood spirits were just a bad idea. The box was probably considered a nice reward, then they went too far with the spirits. Now the players want (and expect) a fully functional box that can be used to manage and store spirits.
For something that wasn't really needed. WC is not the same as mining, in mining you gain XP all the time. WC you get XP for successfully gathering a log. We don't need extra logs. We needed a better success rate and better hatchets, which is what we got.

It is definitely not true in RS3. We have vastly different WC xp progression new school mechanisms in RS3. We don't always need to get a log to get WC xp. We have Crystal Trees that never give a log. We also have ivies that give us no log and no items but FM xp in addition to WC xp. We have EGW Senntistlen Fungus chopping and Croesus that obviously don't give us logs. We have Evil Trees. We have Overgrown Idols. We have Bamboos and Golden Bamboos that we can fletch into absolutely inventory saving and no-banking-required bundles on the premise.
We have diversity in RS3 Woodcutting. For old school WC progression with logs, wood boxes and spirits are definitely helpful. The wood boxes are great, and I don't mind to see an "inspect" option to make them a little greater.
