As you go higher in wealth and social classes, a higher % of people have read Sun Tzu.

It is the same in RS3. The wealthiest players with the highest RuneScores, they will recognise Sun Tzu quotes more regularly than players beneath them.

A major part of taking, is taking the next step up.

Why should I portray/stereotype myself or anyone else for what they are doing?
Players make choices and for me, the important part is is that there are players playing RuneScape forming all together The RuneScape Community.

Your opinion is great 2_tron. You did not give any ground, and your message is delivered eloquently.

I woke up today thinking today is going to be a hard day. Now I am inspired. I am going to take responsibility, and do more than the bare minimum. Will I go out and party Friday? No, I have no friends. I have colleagues, I have work to be doing and we rarely go for drinks.

See a good trait in someone? Take it and make it yours.

I think Givers can be redefined in your context as donators to poorer players.
Giving can be as simple as giving your time to teach a new player something or to give them some information to help them out. As previous people have said this view is fairly black and white.

I'm not someone that gives away things like mad - I'm not poor in terms of what I need to progress my character through the game, but I'm not wanting to be poor either. I would be so bold as to say that the game would not have taken off and definitely would not be successful without givers.

We've all seen games where people are effectively on whole other tiers, and Runescape can be like that, but we all have the freedom to get to that point, because of givers (in my opinion).

For example, in my definition I would describe a giver as someone who gives their time and/or items to help other players.
Under this definition, I would like to argue that the wikipedia and guides are written by givers, we can't deny that many of us would quit if we didn't have such brilliant documentation immediately available to us, who wants to spend their life figuring out where to gather all the tiniest items themselves? You simply need the wikipedia.

Takers can be nice, and givers can be mean, but ultimately we've all been in situations where we're new and we're between the option of leaving or committing to the game to figure it out more. Givers are a large part of what keeps the community in.

Although I'm no taker (and I think by your definition not a giver), I make friends, I grind when I need to and I help where I can, but most importantly, I have fun !

Most players are rich in RS3 if they want to because the economy is very balanced. We can do almost everything and become rich. We aren't forced to kill bosses. We aren't forced to rely on RPG to become rich.

I don't think rich players are "takers", neither do I see anybody thinks so. We are rich because we spend our time to play the game voluntarily. We aren't rich just because we don't spend our time. That's about it.

When we spend our time to play the game in almost every way, we get enough gp to buy bonds. That's why most of the players in RS3 are members. The high conversion rate of free players to members in RS3 tell us obviously we are (1) not poor and (2) not bitter.

OP's assumptions of "takers" and "givers" perhaps only apply to a one-dimensional game with a small group of players controlling the sole money making mean of the game, which almost certainly will lead to a failed game because of a doomed-to-fail economy. I am 100% glad, and 100% sure, that RS3 is not such a failed game.

Wait...............

I have just went back and decided to troll through your opening post..

Mate, your outlook on things is so full of shit "imo" that i find it laughable and wonder how you came to that conclusion lol?

After much thought and very careful consideration i seem to have come to one apparent reason someone could think that way.

That reason must be that one day for some reason you gave away some wealth "for your own personal reason", after that if my thinking is correct, you quit for a while?

Days, weeks, months or maybe years passed but one day you became drawn to this game again and decided to log in =)

Upon doing so you became happy to notice that some of your old friends where still about, some of those "friends" where the people you gave your wealth away to...

Forgive me if i'm wrong but after happily saying "hey bro, how are you" followed by the eerie silence from them being worried that you might ask them for shit back and treating you like they didn't ever know you in the 1st place hits home..........

I can honestly see how that would make you have the thoughts you are having mate.

Don't get me wrong bro, i'm not trying to take the piss out of you, i actually know exactly how you feel mate cos that same shit happened to me lol.

Only difference being...

I could not be arsed making a thread about it lol.

Much love

Scouse - Still has the real friends who matter to this day, fuck all you fair-weather friends

I don't consider myself a taker or giver at the moment.

Even if people are willing to give me stuff(money, items), I'm just going to refuse.

There have been times where I acted as a role of a taker but it wasn't based on money. I still remember the people who helped me with skills..etc . I appreciate it greatly. Kindness from givers aren't forgotten.
