Why are people allowed to have seriously offensive names?

There is a person with a username that includes the word "slut" in it.

I tried reporting this person for having an offensive name (which is a report option) and its been months and they still log in everyday with the same name.

Does Jagex just not care anymore?

How can a person have a username with the word "slut" in it?

Wondering the same thing how come jagex isn't cracking down on these names faster? I reported someone for a offensive name months ago, added them to see if they had a name change forced and they still had their offensive username. It wasn't just personally offensive, it was kind a gross username. I'm not asking for them to be banned. I just want their offensive username removed.

Yeah this is strange. I hope a forum mod can somehow escalate this to a J-Mod. The name this person has is gross as well. I know I can't say their full username on the forums but If a forum or J-Mod can add me in game then I can tell you the username.

I'm surprised they were even allowed to change their name to a name containing the word "slut."

How is that word not blocked from the username creation/change?

jagex are definitely more relaxed on names. if its not being offensive to anyone, its just a word they are calling themselves

but yeah its definitely more relaxed in recent years, probably because the majority of player base now is well adults.

ive obviously seen some that are refering to hate groups. but they get removed very quickly. because they are actually offensive

i think some people see a name and its a little risky and get heated from it. but its not actually offensive.

It's not them calling themselves that word.

Can I make my username "Slut Tenebri"?

Obviously I would not be able to. Jagex should not relax on the rules. I don't care if a majority are adults. there are still kids playing and that is offensive.

As you said you have reported it in game and nothing has been done then nothing further can be done really especially within the Forums. F-Mods can't do much about it as were just players as well.

If you feel it's that bad and needs a looking at then you have another option and thats to send an E-Mail to:- [email protected] See how that goes.

You could keep reporting it in game but not too often.

Good luck with this though as it seems to be upsetting you and thats not nice or right for any player to be upset.

Sometimes it takes some back story as to why the words offensive. I recollect one time reporting a name and nothing happened to it. Was talking with a jmod and asked what constituted offensive. They gave a list of criteria and the name was on it. Their response was was it depends on if it's offensive in England, cause that's where they're located so they could miss some if they don't understand why it is offensive.

Like take the word "poof" it's not offensive here in America. It can be used to describe a disappearance. However in England it is a derogatory term.

I know it's strange... However I'd agree the original word in this thread should be blacklisted.

Players whom send out a serious report are not sending in a report to be treated like idiots or oversensitive individuals.

For Jagex/JMods it is pretty easy ... take your dictionary and if one of the explanations is an offensive one than do not challenge The RuneScape Community its stretchability but confirm it is offensive, thus has to be taken care of.

If it is used in plural, multiple situations, than deal with it properly and don't treat the person reporting like an ass.

The challenge is not ... continue ignoring till someone snaps ... stick up your chin and deal with the report properly and I do not care how long it will take until the other side does notice that it is meant seriously.
