Theres no such thing as offensive. Your just seeking attention. Way more bigger issues in the game and the world than something being "offensive." Now stop.

Why are people allowed to have seriously offensive names?

There is a person with a username that includes the word "slut" in it.

I tried reporting this person for having an offensive name (which is a report option) and its been months and they still log in everyday with the same name.

Does Jagex just not care anymore?

How can a person have a username with the word "slut" in it?

I've seen far worse... Some players have illegal activities in their usernames.

Sometimes it takes some back story as to why the words offensive. I recollect one time reporting a name and nothing happened to it. Was talking with a jmod and asked what constituted offensive. They gave a list of criteria and the name was on it. Their response was was it depends on if it's offensive in England, cause that's where they're located so they could miss some if they don't understand why it is offensive.

Like take the word "poof" it's not offensive here in America. It can be used to describe a disappearance. However in England it is a derogatory term.

That's a reasonable basis for a starting point, though maybe expanding the list to include English-speaking countries, rather than England exclusively.

Context does matter. To use "poof" as an example, a teleport enthusiast might have the account name "Poof Im Gone", while someone else might want the name "I HATE POOFS". I think it would be fine to allow the first example, but not the second. Could a machine grasp the difference and act accordingly? Probably not without extensive examples of what is and isn't fine. Hopefully, human minds tasked with making such decisions would act with reason.

I remember when RuneScape's in-game chat filter was so insanely overprotective, my name would be censored as "As***" as the asinine computer program would assume the third letter in my name would be another "s". O_o

Yeah, the chat filter had a pretty dirty imagination. :P

"...From The 'Scape" is very nearly here.

What can I say most time I indeed report them and move on.

It just proofs to me how immature some people can be.
Somehow I do think they do not know how to communicate directly so people hope others will talk to them maybe?
No clue, but that is how I do look at those names immature and or not really knowing how to start a conversation.
