So okay lets run a hypothetical question, there is 10 accounts, 5 accounts are selling grimy guam for lets say 200gp, 201gp, 199gp, 198gp and 157gp, then I throw my sell price in there for lets say 250gp to try and you know raise the price to make a profit, now the last 4 accounts after me put in their offer to sell for 180gp, 170gp, 160gp and 150gp, will my account be the one to sell the item first at the heightened price or will the prices selling for less take priority?

I know that if I remove my offer it will reset the que so I'm just curious as to how this whole thing actually works because if my item will take priority then it'd give me an incentive to keep items in the grand exchange for longer periods of time whereas if the lower offer just cuts the price by 1gp I'll never make profit because they'll always take priority then it's just a battle to see who will sell for the lowest crashing prices constantly which is what I feel like has been going on.

Buyers will always buy from the lowest sell price possible, that is the 157 gp sell offer. Your 250 gp sell offer comes last in your scenario, regardless you posted your offer before the others and how many accounts there are.

lowest price has priority.

the only way your 250 gp price will sell is when there is nothing under it

even if someone puts an offer to buy one for 1k. the lowest gp one will always be sold first.

if you want to start making money off the ge, youll have start understanding margins, not just randomly putting in a price and hope it sells.

I'm not just randomly putting in a price I'm just curious how it works because I know how to flip it isn't hard but when everybody is constantly crashing prices it's making me wonder what's really going on, there's no reason to be buying/selling for 600gp less than what an item is worth that's like selling a phat for 10B less than what it's worth what would be the point.

I just don't get why players would do that to themselves when they could easily sell their items for higher but one person can single handedly crash an item by selling for 600gp less? That's insane isn't it? It's almost like the price is static and changes in real time within the Grand Exchange like very close to instant changes, I just don't get why one person selling for low would change the entire market price when in reality it should take like at least 1000 accounts selling for 600gp less to warrant an actual market price change oppose to just one person idk

Also it doesn't make sense that one or ten people can undersell you ensuring you never earn gp keeping prices forever low that's like kind of crazy now that I'm thinking about it

Prices won't stay forever low.

Players will buy the items at the lower prices in order to sell them when the price increases again. If you take a look at the GE database, you will see that the majority of items go up and down in price over time. Merchants tend to buy items when they at the trough and sell them at their peak.

Your offer of 250gp in the GE will only go through once all lower offers have been sold. You can keep that offer in and eventually they may sell, but you may want to look at the GE charts to see exactly when the best time to do this is.

As for players selling items for lower than mid, sometimes players just want to sell their junk items quickly. If they only have 10 of that item worth 1k each, then losing 1k GP by selling them at 900 each is meaningless to them when it could mean an additional bank space or an additional GE space to sell more profitable items.

supply and demand dude

600 gp less than what an item is worth? well its clearly not worth the price you think it is. if its selling for 600 gp under, then that is the actual price.

however there many reasons as to why someone would sell cheaper. the main being time saved.

but you already have a thread on this. so no need to go into it in this one.

we are in an economy that is player driven, so prices will go up and they will go down, you seem to be under the impression they should be static.
