Hello Jagex and community. I hope this message gets to someone over at Jagex. This is more or less a vent from a veteran that has played this game on and off since 04'. I decided I wanted to return to OSRS again after two years. Now I know there is Jagex accounts which is more safe. So I do understand that. This is more venting about the level of security and how it could've been fixed a lot sooner.

So I tried to log in and sadly I can't login because my Authenticator wasn't on my device no more? I never got an email regarding the change. I checked my password it was changed as well. I never had an email regarding that either. So I'm in the discord server and talking to a gentlemen and he advised me that even though I had all that setup, if my email was leaked they had full access to everything. Well...situation to that is...I have an email setup on my phone alone as a 2fa for my email on my PC that I use for everything. So they couldn't get access to my email unless they had access to the 2FA email, which has a 26 digit random password generator. Which no one does not even my mother, rest her soul.

Now the realization that I won't ever return to the game because all my hard work for the years I played my OSRS account vs now just seems insignificant. This all could've been fixed if Jagex put forth the effort, which never was done. I loved Runescape for all the nostalgia it gave me. The memories I had with my friends which I will always keep. Sadly I won't find joy in playing it no more so if my account is stolen once again it is no longer my concern. I'm putting this game forever behind me and never looking back at it.

Authenticator and password can only be changed by your email.

look to see if the emails were deleted.

hackers a lot of the time will block all jagex email addresses going to your email. so you never get an email.

with everything you have said it sounds like a keylogger / phishing site. which jagex can not protect you from, that is unfortunately all on us. even if jagex did have the best security out of all places. it still cant help from that because you are giving your info to the hackers.


i dont know what effort you want jagex to put forth. the security features we have in this game are actually very good. but as stated its only good as the user makes it.

jagex dont just use one email. they use separate ones for security to newsletter


the amazing thing about suspicious websites, is they are made to look legit to fool you. so yeah of course you will think you havent been to one.

eitherway what you have said nothing indicates it being jagex fault.

Sorry you think this way. But it's upto each and everyone of us to keep out Account Safe and secure. It's in the Terms & Conditions bottom of the page.

Sorry but Jagex are not to blame for weak security.

I've also removed 1 post for naming an Ex Employee.

I've also locked it as you said it was your last post.
