(I ran out of double xp time on the timer so the dxp event does not apply for me)

So I just reached lvl 90 mining and I'm currently at Prifddinas mining seren stone.

I have an elder rune pickaxe +5, Knowledge bombs for 50%xp gain, and I'm using the dwarven ramhammer set to double XP gain
I also have the rainbow rock golem outfit equipped

Is it normal that my xp fluctuates randomly between 200-400xp?

It is normal every swing at a mining target generates different xp, as after the mining and smithing reworks, pickaxes behave like weapons and deal random damage to the rocks. There crits too. There are also "potions" we consume to buff our "damages". :)

Is that XP gain suppose to be that small though? I figured with 50% buffs from the knowledge bombs and the dwarven ramhammer it would be closer to 1000xp not a measly 200xp

I don't think knowledge bombs and dwarven tools work during DXP.

They do if it's paused or if you're like me and used up all the double xp time already

Knowledge bombs may work if DXP is not active or paused, I don't think Dwarven tools work during DXP event regardless your timer is out or paused. Check if you are losing charges when you use a Dwarven pick.
