Keepsake Box Completely Safe?

I'm a returning player and liking the new cosmetic Keepsake Box. Is this completely safe if I put my party hat in it, or is there ever a risk it might get deleted (or lost if I die)? I'm 99% sure it isn't a problem, but wasn't sure if future updates go through if it may glitch out.

I've only ever trusted keeping my discontinued items in my bank.

It's treated like a cosmetic item until you remove it.
