If you want a new slayer monster, could be a monster with a higher slayer level requirement, over 99 probably. I kind of like my nose peg idea. Could be an Aberrant Spectre boss. Like what OSRS did with Hellhounds. Have a boss level hellhound which has special drops.

I was thinking of adding a underworld ghostly strykewyrm in the water you have to fight on the shore, it will drop the necromancy slayer helm addition


Or keep the troll cave semi instanced and put a few in there or use a diving helm and fight them under water, the monsters you summon are already dead, so they do not need to breath.

Hmm a monster requiring diving equipment. Interesting. But it doesn't have to be a strikewyrm. Just some kind of underwater ghost. But would require 90+ slayer.

An add-on is an option, but I think it'd probably make more sense as an unlock to just learn how to harness the power in the black mask/(full) slayer helm for this. The black rock the masks are made from are linked to Necromancy in lore anyway and are used as the base for the slayer helmet.
This way it could be done as an Um-linked unlock at some point, or even just be a slayer store upgrade with a necromancy requirement of some sort I guess.

It'd be messy & need a bunch of versions (or a forced downgrade&refund, likely to cause massive market chaos unless the drop is very common, not to mentioned complications with helm stands & stored ring charges) to allow adding something at the full slayer helm level, and adding it only at the corrupted level would be inconsistent with the other styles.

CB555 you do what you want with a drop. Since the rest of the items, are drops, would be consistent. Is there an issue with the Slayer Helm upgrades and modifications adding a new item? I really do not remember. Been years since messing with Slayer Helm on RS3. In OSRS there is just the original melee helm and you imbue the helm with mage and range doing that mini game. Plus there are mods with certain head drops.

There's a ton of tiers after that now.

So you have slayer helm (melee), full slayer helm (all styles but necro), several upgraded stat tiers using full helm as a base, with the corrupted helm as a final stat/effect upgrade, each version also has several variants for optional charges of slayer rings and/or fero rings and/or re-colours too.

Necro item would need to be added at or around full slayer helm level, which then means:
1) everyone needs that to re-make their higher helm tiers (& jagex refund everyone sufficient costs to do this when they downgrade the helmets - and many have 2 helms these days too due to the slayer helm stand)
OR
2) everyone gets the upgrade for free if they have x tier helm (likely kills any drop value)
OR
3) Jagex doubles the already high number of helm variants for every tier for necro/non-necro included...if just feels like it'd be super clumsy to implement compared to a binary unlock that just adds the necro bonus to all applicable items when thematically the black mask would fit without having to force it
Could still be an item too I guess but just act as one-time unlock instead of a helm material, was thinking more in terms of application to the helm rather than how it's obtained.

The RS3 slayer helm now is far better than the OSRS one. Plenty of improved are added to the RS3 slayer helm with slayer codex and corrupted gem. They may imbue the corrupted slayer helm with ritual and souls to add Necromancy bonus to the slayer helm probably.
