I was up in the wilderness penguin-hunting. Went into the maze for one. 9900 HP, 95 defense. Standard stuff: in my royal dragonhide ranger gear, lots of food in the pack, and my detector. Cut through the web, started in, couple of nips from the doggies, detector picked up the penguin, and ... I was dead.
It was quick as a wink, and I didn't recognize the monster. Nothing native to the maze, I'm sure. It was hugely lethal: I had a hotkey set up for food and a finger over the key, and I was dead before I could get a bite into me. I know that because the game flashed an announcement that there was no food in my pack, which I gather meant it got the signal for the food a split second after I died. Also, I got back all my food when I showed up at Death and reclaimed my stuff. Wasn't that giant strikeworm - I've encountered that one, and besides I can take a couple or three hits from it. This was a direct melee attack from something that I think had a spherical head, though I might be wrong; as I said, I only got a glimpse and I was dead. Any ideas what might have hit me?
