So, hypothetically, let's say someone started an organization that accepted donations (To pay for the time and effort it would take) in exchange for destroying in game gold and/or items. So, for every X amount of real world money, Y amount of GP gets destroyed. And since nobody is actually receiving any in game items, they're not technically buying gold. Why would anybody do this? Well, maybe because they care about the economy of the game and want to keep it from stagnating.

Not saying anybody should or shouldn't do it. I just think it's an interesting idea and I think as far as the rules go, it's a bit of a grey area.

Manipulation of game items and value is something Jagex/JMods are aware of ... .

Grey or not ... if Jagex/JMods have enough evidence of rigging a game Jagex/JMods will take action against it the way they see most fit.

It's not really that grey - Paying outside -of-the-game for something to be done inside -of-the-game is a Real-World Trade.

Just because some obscure circumstance is not explicitly stated as a no-go does not make it a grey area.

It would be RWT, albeit a weird variation of it.

The only difference would be instead of paying real world money to receive gold or items, they would be paying real world money to lose gold or items...gold or items they could get rid of on their own - for free.

Also, what guarantee would they have that you didn't simply pocket their money and keep their gold or items for yourself?

Why would anybody do this?
I've been putting out fire with gasoline! ^_^

Original message details are unavailable.
This sound unnecessarily complicated. If people want to waste money, they can just donate to charities.

are you saying donating to charity is a waste?

but to op, you say "taking donations" when really you mean payment of service.

you also as no one is receiving any in game items. but there is a service ingame that was paid for.

so yes this is rwt
