So, hypothetically, let's say someone started an organization that accepted donations (To pay for the time and effort it would take) in exchange for destroying in game gold and/or items. So, for every X amount of real world money, Y amount of GP gets destroyed. And since nobody is actually receiving any in game items, they're not technically buying gold. Why would anybody do this? Well, maybe because they care about the economy of the game and want to keep it from stagnating.
Not saying anybody should or shouldn't do it. I just think it's an interesting idea and I think as far as the rules go, it's a bit of a grey area.
