The Do No Evil quest

I've been away for a few years, and thought I'd come back an do a few quests.. I started the Do No Evil quest, following a guide.. Seeing that the game has a nice table for what I need to do the quest, and the requirements, I foresaw no real issues.. Now, according to the guide, I'm stuck though.. It tells me that I need an Ancient Magicks spellbook, which takes a lot more skill levels than I have to aquire.. Am I missing something here, or does the game actually allow me to take a quest, that I can't complete?

Loaded up the quest on my alt acct that hasn't done it yet...



It does show Desert Treasure as a required quest (which ofc is where the ancient magicks are unlocked at)

Though, checking your quest log through runemetrics, you have Desert Treasure done, and a high enough level to cast Ice Burst...so unless it's a newer account, you should be fine to swap over.

Some quests let you start them anyway and be able to progress through until a requirement kicks in. Kinda like Fairy Tale Part II, which you dont need all the reqs to start...allowing you to easily get the fairy ring network unlocked. Or in this case, up to where you need to cast an ice spell. Can I turn in a paper without citing all sources?

I do indeed have that quest done.. But when I go to check on Ancient Magic, I get this

This mentions e quests, to unlock the spellbook

These two, have much requirements to do, which confuses me since the guide tells me I need to do them, to complete a quest with much lower requirements

You only need ice spells for Do No Evil, which are part of the standard Ancient Spellbooks.

Do No Evil was released in 2010, the other 2 quests were released after...so they're not required for the quest.

The Light Within (2015) gives access to Seren Spells, which are accessory spells that help you out with skilling and combat.

City of Senntisten (2021) gives 4 very high level combat spells.


All that's needed for the quest are any of the 4 Ice spells: Ice Rush (58), Burst (70), Blitz (82), or Barrage (94). With the minimum reqs, Burst is the one to use. Can I turn in a paper without citing all sources?

You have to switch to the Ancient Spellbook....you can only be on one at a time.

For Ancients, you'd go to the Jaldraocht Pyramid (the one from Desert Treasure) and pray at the altar. You'd use it again to return back to the Normal Spellbook. Can I turn in a paper without citing all sources?

Just a tip for changing spellbooks more easily in the future (once you have more levels and/or more quests) - the perk of the 99 magic cape is to activate it at a bank and change your spellbook between Normal, Ancients, and Lunar. Also, there is an altar in Priffindinas (sp?) that will let you regain prayer and swap spellbooks as well. I find that these are more convenient than going to the desert temple ;-) Things may be looking down now, but I see a light at the end of the tunnel;
Do you think I should get off the tracks?
