how does the reset timer work?
i have been creating a discord bot that sends a message when citadel resets, and i have noticed that after a few weeks my timer is off by a few hours.

i read that the build tick timer starts when the first person enters the citadel after reset, but i also read conflicting information that they changed that.

Hm, you're the second person I've seen mention this recently. Are you able to link me to the source you read this from?

Citadels operate on weekly Build Cycles, and the Citadel's Build Tick is the instant that it transitions from one Build Cycle to the next, which is more commonly referred to as 'Citadel Reset.' A Build Cycle lasts exactly one week from the first clan member's entry to the Citadel. However, in order to maintain a consistent 'Reset Time,' your clan needs to have someone enter the Citadel at approximately the same time each week. There is a grace period after the intended Reset Time where a clan member can enter, and the time will not move. The duration of this grace period is unknown.

There have been no updates to Citadel Build Cycles or Build Ticks, so these are currently functioning the same way they always have.

Interesting. Every post on that thread you linked states, from multiple clan leaders (including myself), that a clan member entering the Citadel is what triggers the Build Cycle to begin, except for one post stating they thought it was changed (which is untrue because it has not changed).

Basically, it works like this: Say a clan's Citadel resets at 1:00 Game Time on Wednesdays. If a clan member enters their Citadel at 1:00 Game Time on Wednesday, immediately after it resets, the time will remain the same. This means that current Build Cycle will end at 1:00 Game Time on Wednesday the next week, exactly one week afterwards. However, if that time passes and the first clan member to enter the Citadel does not do so until 12:00 Game Time on Wednesday, the Citadel's new reset time will be 12:00 Game Time on Wednesday.

The game's coding that operates Build Cycles requires a clan member to visit the Citadel for the code to execute and begin the next cycle. If a clan member doesn't visit, the code doesn't activate, and a new Build Cycle doesn't begin until a clan member visits.

Since visiting is required to activate Build Cycles, if no clan members visit their Citadel for two months, dilapidation will not occur during that time. This means if a clan has a Tier 7 Citadel, and no clan members visit that Citadel for two months, their Clan Page will still say the Citadel is Tier 7. However, once a clan member finally enters the Citadel, those two months of missed upkeep will get factored in all at once, and the Citadel will degrade by multiple Tiers. Everything that is missed will get stored, but this code cannot execute until a clan member enters the Citadel to activate it.

I hope that clears things up. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. :)
