Hello. I'm trying to leave a clan that never has anyone on but I can't find the clan button. I've read that it's on the left side of the clan chat but it's not on my screen. My baby got to my keyboard and changed around all my settings so I don't know if this has anything to do with it. Is there another way to access the clan tab please?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi Aleenya,

I can see that you are currently the leader of a clan. Since you said none of the players in your clan are active, I would suggest that you disband the clan rather than just leave it.

To access the Clan Chat tab, you'll want to navigate to your ribbon, and hover over the Community icon. From there, click the Clan Chat List button. This will open your Clan Chat tab.

In your Clan Chat tab, you should see the name of your clan appear at the top, with yourself and clan rank appearing in the list below. If you instead see a screen that says "You are not currently in a clan chat channel," you need to click on the icon in the bottom left corner of this tab to join the chat. (Nearly all clan settings are disabled if you're not in the chat.)

From here, you'll want to follow these steps to disband your clan:

1. At the bottom of the Clan Chat tab, you should see an icon that looks like a Cog.

2. Click on the Cog, and it opens the Clan Settings.
- If you don't see a Cog and instead see a single icon, then your interface isn't wide enough to display all of them. Click on the single icon that's there to expand it, and then the Cog.

3. In the Clan Settings interface, you'll see a full list of your clan members like this:

The buttons circled in red are the options where changes to clan members can be made.
Clicking on one opens this:

This is where you'll want to kick your members from before disbanding the clan. You should be able to kick all other members.

4. Once this is done, speak to the Scribe at the Clan Camp south of Falador.

Click option 1: "I'd like more information about clans," and then on option 3: "How do I leave a clan?"

5. Go through this dialogue, which contains this message:

As the last remaining member, this should allow you to leave the clan and disband it.

Oh fascinating. I was part of a large clan when I stopped playing about a year ago. They must have disbanned then I became leader I guess? The problem is I don't have those icons listed at the bottom of my interface where my player inventory is. The clan chat icon is over where the rest of my chat is for some reason. And I clicked on clan chat like you said and there are only two icons at the top right. One is a filter, and the other one is to leave clan chat or turn off profanity filter etc. There is not a cog, and it doesn't even show my clan name when I click on chat like it does on my other toon. It just brings up clan chat without anything else in the box.

I figured it out. I had to click escape, then social, then clan chat. I don't know why I have to do that but I'm guessing because my baby changed my interface so much. I don't know how to turn it back to default.

That is probably what happened. The former leader of the clan had left it, and the clan system automatically assigned a Deputy Owner (you) to fill the empty spot. This is why I recommend you disband the clan while you are the leader as it will prevent another person from going through this trouble if they return from inactivity as a Clan Owner and don't know what to do.

Without being able to see what you're looking at, I assume you were on the Chat interface, where messages can be set, not the tab that lists the members currently online in the Clan Chat. The Cog icon appears in the center of the bottom row of icons in this screenshot:

If you're having Interface issues, I would recommend looking up a guide to setting up a proper interface layout for your style of play. Otherwise, you can use the Default layouts that are available by clicking Esc, going to Edit Layout Mode, and selecting an option from the Load Layout drop-down menu. There are also options to save/load custom layouts.

If you're more familiar with the older, pre-2013 interface, press Esc, go to Settings, then Gameplay, Miscellaneous, Legacy Modes, and activate Legacy Interface Mode. This may be easier to navigate.
