One day I'm gonna do my annual search for "rsb" in the forums and this won't pop up.

That will be a sad day, but it is not this day.

How interesting it is that this won't die, propped up mainly by 1 person who's perpetually "getting it ready" and also by so many people looking at this time capsule that's always on display. It gets bumped from time to time, it gets little spurts of activity when one of the nostalgics comes to interact with Matt (what a pillar). I'm jealous of your consistency over the course of the life of this Matt.

I always say to myself when I'm reading through old posts that this will be the last time. I'm gonna give up on my nostalgia for RS. The longing to play the game left a long time ago, but the longing to feel apart of the community that was made on these boards always remains. Nothing on the internet today compares to those flame wars. I never really got into it as much as I wished I had, joining too late and with not enough of myself. So many strangers that seemed so trolly back than, I just wanted to troll with the best of them yet always came up short. It was always about me though when I came here. The things I could get out of it, the feeling of belonging I could feel from coming here. It was a home I took for granted.

Anyways, I dunno why I posted this.

I hope to see this again next year!

I know exactly what you mean. Felt like I devoted so much of my teen years to this community and yet didn't really set out to do everything I wanted lol. I'm happy with it though, met a lot of cool peeps from every side of the community.

Well consistency isn't always a good thing because I haven't spruced it up yet. Need to just set aside a day or two sometime to shift things to the back pages and put other things on the front. Problem is it's been so long that I forgot what my plans really were but I'll figure something out sometime.

It'll be here the next time I'm sure.

Is there any rsb around in osrs atm? I got hyped up by oshd so much that i decided to play during the open weekend and it got me hooked up lol. So i bonded up an alt and now casually lvling range. I was wondering if there are any chill friends chats out there that i can hang out.

P.S. glad to see so many people still around ish. Just checked out the first few pages and reading the history was an enjoyable experience. First found out about the RSB in middle school, now about to graduate college. Hope all is well.

Will quickly post some things I remember in case I don't check this for awhile and you want to add more history. Just gonna do ladders before I go to bed.

Major ladders:

RSB Ladder Rankings (Main Ladder)

-Founded by Lady Foul in 2005 or 2006 (before my time)
-Operated as a council, but by 2007 switched to a rotating threadholder system and clan vote to overturn decisions
-Switched back to a council system in 2011 in order to fight back against creeping irrelevance and also introduced a mini-warring ladder
-Had one mini tournament in Spring '11. Winner was CK I think.
-Briefly had a lower league called "Division 2"
-#1 Main Ladder was the #1 clan. Period. At least until late 2011.
-Key folks (that I remember): Lady Foul, Wo0tstati0n, God Justice1, Liquid1500, Spellman26, Haggis Stv, but ultimately this ladder was the most decentralized. Probably more than just this could be considered "key"
-Think it died in November or December 2011, few declarations before that
*unimportant fact: Yours truly held the thread once or twice.

RSB Variety/Universal Ladder

-Founded by Suleimon, Otters, and maybe one other person?
-Famous for having a lot of divisions. Matched, lower, castle wars, stealing creation, 120+.
-Most respected mini/matched ladder until 2010.
-Longest running council was Humatiel, Jamielswa, and Pking Noob3. In practice Huma dominated. Aurorashines was part of it too at one point and her switch to the BL was famous/infamous
-Huma tried to kill the ladder on 1/1/10, but Aurorashines backed it up. It was remade as the Universal ladder led by Jamielswa (briefly), PN3, Georgio (Briefly), Playa(numbers), and Black Joe23 (briefly)
-In April or May of 2010 it merged with the RSBL after a big flame war on the thread (yours truly was part of it)
-Key figures: Humatiel, Jamielswa, that's kinda it really. Don't think anyone else lasted long and the RSUL was dead on arrival.

RSB Battle Ladder

-Founded by Jacob the Fi and maybe one other? Was really irrelevant prior to 2010.
-Famous for being able to declare on any rank.
-Gained true relevance in the mini-war era because of the restricted, 20v20, 30v30, and 10v10 leagues.
-Was the most "professional" ladder with a functioning council usually headed by Aurorashines or Ms Kornfreak.
-Referee system was the most efficient as well and ultimately got copied by the rest. Yours truly was a ref and council member for some godforsaken reason
-Had multiple mini-war tournaments. 4 in 2010 I think. Famously, TNB had like four teams in one of them. TNB won the March 2010 one, WF the April 2010. GODZ won September 2010 and CK won October 2010. WF won the months long 2011 one.
-Famously didn't have much flame because of Aurorashines' presence. Doesn't mean it was flame free especially if Jaro and KA were involved lul.
-Got stickied
-Ladder died with EOC, but it was largely irrelevant by 2012 anyway since clans warred a lot and every war was equally a matter of pride.
-Key figures: Aurorashines, Ms Kornfreak, Carc369, I Scooter I, Jarobal1305, Robin H Pk1

RSB Community Ladder:

-Founded as a passion/vanity project by Jamielswa in mid 2010. Its creation thread got maxed out by discussion and flame. Mostly flame. It had two or three before creation.
-Famous for clans only being able to declare one rank at a time.
-Clans were also supposed to have unprecedented input as they could elect threadholders for 3 month tenures and bar clans from joining/kick clans.
-Ultimately died in large part thanks to me. After Underseige and Elve Genju tried to do good things with it I ran against Jaro as part of the TDC-PKU proxy for threadholder. I think WoF had done some questionable shit which spurred me to run. TDC clans held a majority and I made sure to do *nothing* with the ladder so it would die lol. Not one of my finest hours.
-Key figures: Jamielswa, Underseige2, Elve Genju

Holy shit Sound been some time. Yeah holy crap I feel so old when you bring that up, I was like 8th grade I think when I started?

Thanks for the write-up, was working on (admittedly still not far into) a fixing-up of the layout so that really helps a lot. I'll have to really get at this before next semester starts (although knowing me I'll be working on and not finishing something else beforehand (like the videos I'm making for my Youtube channel lol)).

Yeah I was on both the RSBL council and the Main Ladder holder but I had my 6 month hiatus before I really did much of anything. Not sure that'd be worth mentioning tbh lol.
